Pros and Cons of Sayville
We have an accepted offer in West Sayville and just wanted to hear any pros and cons you have to share! I have heard only good things about the town and the schools… so any cons that we should be aware of is appreciated as well :) We are getting a smaller house than we could have elsewhere but the main selling point is location so i'm hoping this is a good choice.

I lived in Oakdale very close to west sayville for over ten years. My son graduated from connetquot schools. My son had many friends in west sayville. The location makes it really easy to get places, sunrise highway is convenient. There is good shopping nearby. Sayville village has terrific community events. Good luck!

Pros and Cons of Sayville
I just bought a house in west sayville last may. So far, I love the town. We are close to the train station and not too far from Main Street. Our neighbors are very nice and there is really a great community feel to the town. We don't have any kids yet but from what I hear the school district is great. You will love living in West Sayville!

Look up sayville common grounds. They show you all the events that went on in 2013 in town. Sayville is so much fun. We lived on bohack court which is a huge street that used to be owned by bohack supermarket back in the days. Main Street was up the block. Nothing like good pizza. Italian ices and mingling. Great town.

If I was going to live on the South Shore, it would absolutely be Sayville. So many events, family activities, etc.

It's ok but not as good as Sayville hence the lower taxes.

High school taxes do not define the quality of the disctricts. Districts like connetquot and hauppague along with many others get a boost from the commercial and industrial areas within the district. This offsets the cost to the district's residential taxpayers. I do agree that Sayville is a better district than connetquot in terms of scores. A big chuck of west sayville goes to connetquot.

Actually, I don't think that's true. I think most, if not all, West Sayville goes to Sayville district.
There are some areas of Sayville that go to Connectquot. Check out newsday's website, they have the school district boundary lines.
I have 2 friends who are less than 2 miles from me (and each other). 2 of us are in Sayville and the other is in Connectquot.

.
My son graduated in 2005 and we moved so maybe the district lines have changed. We lived off of locust ave and some of his middle school friends lived too far to walk or ride a bike into west sayville. I don't remember street names, I just remember driving there a lot

I lived on Bohack Ct for 30 years! I wouldn't call it a huge street, there are only 10 or so houses. We love the area so much!!!

Thanks for all of your responses!! Unfortunately our accepted offer fell through, an all cash offer came in and they went with them :(. Back to looking, keeping sayville as a top choice. I agree with the previous poster, as a north shore girl it's one of the south shore towns i would like living in.

Are you still there? We had the 2nd and 3rd floor in a rented house. Owner lived on first floor. Bill softy was his name.

I grew up in Sayville - absolutely loved it.
I don't want to live back on LI since we work in Manhattan but if I did I would go back to Sayville.

We left in 2007 but only live a mile away. Was it the house on the corner of Bohack and Greeley? That house is split into lots of studio apts now.

We lived the right before dd was born so around 2004/2005. Hysterical, we were neighbors :) I kinda remember seeing the diners parking lot from my bedroom.
