MTHFR/ factor V leiden please come in!

I hope it is OK that I am posting here but I believe there may be many ladies here with similar issues...

I am hetero, one copy each for MTHFR and Factor V. My first pregnancy with my son, I was on lovenox 40mg from 8 weeks on.

I am now 9.5 weeks pregnant and though my regular OB was going to start me on Lovenox, my perinatologist says the recommendations have changed since 2009 and I do not need Lovenox for hetero for these issues. I am taking folic acid, baby asprin and vit D for deficiency.

Is anyone in the same boat? Hetero for either and are you or are you not on Lovenox?

TIA!

I am hetero for A and C and took 40 mg of lovenox twice a day. I was initially on 40 mg once a day but I was increased due to clotting in the placenta. It truly might be fine, but I would follow up to be certain.

I have one copy of mthfr and something else I can't think of the name. It means I can't break down regular folic acid and need to be on metnax, a pre-broken down version of folic acid. I am also on the 40 and it might just be my drs beliefs but they are keeping me on.

thanks ladies. I will be having weekly sonos beginning at 16 weeks for other reasons so they will watch for clotting or issues with blood flow in the placenta.

I am relieved to NOT have to inject daily but the what ifs still play in my head.

my twin sister just gave birth in February and was NOT on lovenox during that pregnancy (like me, she was with her first) - totally non-complicated so that is reassuring. I guess I will just have to make sure they are staying on top of monitoring the placenta.

I'm homo for C, homocystine is within normal range, no factor v issues. Started this pregnancy with Lovenox 40 1x a day and Folgard, as per my RE. When I graduated to the OB, he recommended baby aspirin instead of Lovenox after consulting with a hematologist and talking to my RE. Been off Lovenox and on baby aspirin since about 8w and all is going well. I'm currently 32 weeks and haven't had any issues.

Sounds like you're on top of everything and will be monitored appropriately. I was nervous to switch off the Lovenox since things were going well and I've had losses in the past, so I know the feeling of being scared to change what's working. When I was pg with my ds, I wasn't on Lovenox, baby aspirin or Folgard and never had any issues either (didn't know about MTHFR). Best of luck to you!

I am MTHFR and a carrier for Favor V.

I take baby asprin, folic acid and vitamin. Monitored weekly and never took any blood thinners during my first, second or third pregnancy...

I was told by my high risk drs. that since Im hetero there is no need for me to take that...

I found this post through Google... i'm not pregnant or or having fertility issues.. But I am Compound Heterozygous MTHFR and Heterozygous Factor V Leiden. I'm here because I'm having a hard time finding a hematologist that is knowledgable ... in spite of living on Long Island. i was hoping someone would have a name for me.
TIA

Check out Dr. Laura Donahue w/ LIJ in New Hyde Park. I recently went to see her and she was amazing and so knowledgable.
