biting at daycare

Dd is ft and going on 2. In the past, she has been bitten at daycare about 4 times in a year 2 of which daycarre did incident reports. The other two very light bite marks which faded by morning and I mentioned in passing to director.. Tonight I saw another bite on her arm which will probably fade by a.m. would you mention to director about this bie? Dh says no I say yes. He says I complain too much.Chat Icon

Is she being bit by the same child? If so, they would most probably kick the child out. They take biting very seriously, so I would tell the director.

biting at daycare

I would def say something if you def know she isn't biting herself. My DS has had bite marks on his hand from himself so I would talk to her first unless they clearly have to be from another child.

report ALL bites!

My son was always the bite-e, never the biter. I reported all. Its important that they know what is going on in the room and if bites are missed, they need to pay more attention.

My DD is 14.5 months and just bit a child last week Chat Icon I 100% want to know if MY child is biting others so I can do my best to correct the behavior!

Its important for both parties to know what is going on in order to correct it Chat Icon

Yes, I would mention it if they did not tell me about it.

biting at daycare

The daycare should be telling YOU when your child is bitten, not the other way around! I would be mad... not that he/she was bitten necessarily, but that you were not notified. They should be filling out an incident report, and also informing the other parent.
Def report it.

I would def say something! if it is the same issue with the same child you can also request your child to be put into a different room if it is available

Re: biting at daycare

I'd definitely say something. I'd be concerned that you didn't receive an incident report for all of the bites. Our daycare documents everything regardless of the severity of the bite. DS2 has been bitten quite a few times and bit another child once or twice. We've gotten reports for all bites including when DS2 was the biter.

It's very common for children to bite at that age. They don't have the communication skills to tell another child that they're mad or they want something. I'd want to know that the teachers are on top of the biting, are shadowing any kids who have bitten more than once and are using strategies to discourage and prevent biting.
