Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
DD was in a great routine, sleeping 7/7:30 pm until a brief wake-up for a bottle between 5/6 and then usually back down until about 7 am.
She was sick most of the month of march with one thing after the other. Tough month and her sleeping was completely thrown off - had her in our bed, etc.
She is now better, but still teething. She is in her crib and going down closer to 8 pm. The problem is she is waking up 4-5 times every night. She throws her paci and then screams for us come and get it for her and rock her back down.
Just spent 45 mins this morning trying to get her to go back down.
Tried letting her cry it out but it doesnt seem to be working (thats what we did when she was a baby and got her into good routine as stated above).
HELP - tips/advice? what works on a todder at this age.
SO TIRED!

Re: Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
DD is 15m, she does the paci toss thing too.
At night, I DO NOT go back in to give it to her. She knows that if she tosses it, you will come back smart girls!
We let DD CIO unless she is sick. If we know she has been uncomfortable due to teething, we give her advil before bed and will dose her again in the middle of the night if she wakes.
Do you give advil before bed for teething pain?

Once it's tossed, they aren't getting it back. Unfortunately you need to re-train after things like being sick. Suuuckkss!!

Re: Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
DD went through a similar thing. She's also 16 mos. and had been sttn since 3 months old. I think some of it has to do with separation anxiety and wanting a quick "cuddle" during the night.
The only thing so far that seems to work is offering dd some water from a straw cup we keep handy. She seems to take a few gulps, then Goes back down on her own. Since starting this about 3 weeks ago, she has been getting up 0-1 times each night, down from like 4-5.
Good luck, hang in there.

Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
Would putting several pacifiers in there help? Or would she just throw those as well?

Re: Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
It's possible that 8:00 is too late for her. Because she is overtired, she can't get into a deep sleep. I would try getting her down earlier. I can't promise it will work, but I would give it a try.

Re: Sleep Training 16 months - HELP
I'm going through the same thing with my DS who is 15 months. It started when he was getting his molars and now I think it's a separation anxiety issue!
