When I do drive, I go 65 in the left lane if I am passing. I had a few speeding tickets in my past and I learned my lesson. Even now on the Autobahn, I can't speed-- I'm too scared!
If I go over 65, I make sure to steal my neighbour's garbage pail and attach it to the back of my car. I then fling dog poop with a plunger (bleaching it after, of course) and hope it goes into the neighbour's pail (don't worry I always tip the garbageman at Xmas!). I always make sure to do this with someone breastfeeding in the car. I then check myself for insulin and check my rosary beads hanging from my rear view mirror. I haven't cleaned off the snow from my windows, but I will make sure to superglue Jesus, which has been broken from my speeding (but I can talk that down in Nassau, right?).
After I'm done I park in front of someone else's house.
Please stop.

not going to lie and pretend I only use it when I'm passing and never speed (not saying that people that said that are lying). I would say, to directly answer your question.....70. With that said, Im mostly a 65 mph driver in the center lane. Only bc most people, even at 70 will ride your ass in the left lane and the far right, has too many people merging for me to want to deal with. Try telling a gazillion people who are all trying to get to and from work in 3 lanes of traffic that the left lane is for passing only. In a perfect world, yes. At rush hour, its just another place, a faster place for the gazillion cars trying to get some place in gridlock when no one is passing anyone at all.

How fast in the left lane?
Left lane is for passing as in going faster than the middle lane, not necessarily passing and then getting back in front of the cars you pass. Obv there are speed limits but if I had to guess at an average left lane speed on a highway with no traffic I'd say something like 73/74. People feed off of one another and I've definitely been in a lot of situations where it seemed everyone around me was going close to 80. In NY where it's congested it would be kind of crazy if people could only use theleft to literally pass. Not sure how that exactly gets quantified either, like what if I'm passing ten cars?

My rule of thumb is that to be in the left lane I need to be going faster than people in the other lanes. If you aren't passing people you shouldn't be in the left.

umm whatever I can get away with legally and safely? That's my honest answer 
Left lane is for passing. Even if I'm speeding and see a car come up behind me faster, I move over.
I never try to purposely slow someone down.
I truly hate when people get into the left lane and go speed limit while the middle or right lane is open. You want to go speed limit? fine. But must you hold me up?
I can not lie. I barely ever go speed limit on a highway. Circumstances change with AJ in the car of course. I'm either stuck in traffic, only on the road for a few exits or I'm speeding by a large amount of area.

Shows a cop tailing and finally moving over a slow driver in the left lane.
As far as how many lanes justify the move over. I say any and all. When legal, the left ALWAYS passes. That includes one lane roads. We move over to the shoulder a bit if the line is dashed.
That said, I will admit I've 'passed' people on the right if they refuse to move. I'm not going to get into a road rage thing over traffic. We'll all get where we're going sooner or later.
Oh and speed limit on the Highway near my house??? 75mph 
ETA: But I believe the answer here is The Speed limit is the maximum speed you can go in ideal circumstances. Regardless of lane.
However weather conditions will get you a ticket here if you go speed limit. I got pulled over once for going 35 in my mustang because it was raining.

So if a cop clocks you doing 80 in the left lane and you get a ticket for it can you go to court and fight it and say that you were just keeping up with the flow of traffic which is the law??

I am not sure but I really do feel like I have heard this before. that they should or usually pull the person who is "leading: traffic cause everyone else is just keeping up with the flow again not sure how true that is and I doubt it will hold up in court

The left lane is for PASSING - it's not your (the general 'your') responsibility to keep everyone else on the road going at the speed limit, or what you consider a reasonable pace. -
I HATE people to drive the left lane when they're not passing the middle lane ......it's obnoxious, AND it causes accidents.

So if I'm driving even lets say... 70! And passing cars on my right, you speedy chicks think I should move out of your way, even when I'm going 15mph over the limit? Because you want to drive 80?
I don't think the left lane laws are meant to be interpreted as you can go "as fast as you want" LOL
That being said, I move. Because I (obviously) don't like being tailgated. I just think its funny.
I have no issue with someone going slower than me in the left lane if it is just to pass someone. But they should pass and then move back over to let the other cars by.
It really is not up to you how fast anyone else should go on a highway. If i get pulled over it is on me. I do drive fast when i am on my own but not when i have the kids with me as they can be a distraction.

I like the left lane especially on the Northern state where is is only 2 lanes and i probably drive 65-70 but if someone comes up behind me fast I move out of the lane to let them pass. I always feel it is better to have someone going faster in front of me so the cop will get them, lol.
