cystic acne
I'm 34 years old and am experiencing the WORST cystic acne of my life I have PCOS and I know that contributes to my hormones being out of whack, but this is ridiculous. I have been to dermatologists for YEARS and have tried almost everything under the sun and am so frustrated at this point.
Can anyone provide any feedback and/or suggestions?

Re: cystic acne
I am currently having the same problem. Though no PCOS. After being on fertility meds for 2 years I am finally off since December and my skin is terrible!!! I have tried everything I know. When I was 18 I had the same problem. The answer then was birth control pills. Now... We are still TTC but on our own so obv BCP are not an option.
Just sharing in your misery here. I hope someone comes up with something!
P.S. I keep seeing the proactive commercial for some kind of new formula? It's 29.95. I may try it.

cystic acne
I used to have very bad cystic acne years ago and the only thing that helped at that time was getting injections in my face. None of the medicines they prescribed worked but they would inject my face and they would be gone within a day

This and doxycycline worked for me. I took it for approx 3 days and my skin cleared up. I get pimples here and there (cystic) but I just learned to accept it. I get them when I'm pmssing.
Malin + goetz jojoba face scrub is my main squeeze <333

Re: cystic acne
What helped me was oral antibiotics- minocycline or something like that- for a few weeks and then prescription topicals to maintain. This was years ago but I used Differin gel- it was a retinoid.

I am 34 and currently on my 5th month of accutane. I tried proactive, 2 different antibiotics, and a cream before giving in and going this route. It sucks, the dry skin, I broke out in a rash on my arms and OMG dry lips. But it is finally working. My skin is starting to look great, just a few more months to go. So many people have told me that once the accutane makes it go away it will never come back.

Re: cystic acne
I just had a major breakout of cystic acne like never before! I normally get one once a month close to my period, but for some reason last month my face went haywire! One cyst would clear up and another would pop up. At one point I had 5-6 cysts!" I search the internet and sometimes dairy can be a problem. I was having milk with my cereal every day and a Greek yogurt for lunch everyday, so I stopped eating most dairy (I couldn't give up cheese or food cooked with dairy) and within a week my skin starting looking better. I also used murad spot acne treatment because it's gentler on your skin also. I haven't had a cystic acne since. Now, I can't say if it was from cutting back on dairy- but I'm not willing to go back to having that much again!! Even the one or two regular pimples I would get weekly have gone away too!

Re: cystic acne
I get cystic acne , I find when i eat better, a lot of fruits and veggies my skin is much better. The dermatologist has given me cordzone shots in my face to get rid of them. Also I switched to clinique even better foundation and that doesn't clog my pores as much as some other make ups i have used in the past.

Re: cystic acne
After the birth of dd I had cystic acne all along my chin line and neck. My dermatologist used a laser treatment and it worked. I didn't finish the sessions because they were so expensive but it killed the bacteria and cleared it THANK God!

I was going to suggest this. Maybe try a whole foods diet (no processed foods, refined sugars, etc.) and eliminate dairy and gluten for a few months? I know it has worked for some people, so it's worth a shot.

Re: cystic acne
I find stress being the biggest trigger for acne cysts. I get one every once in a while and always during periods of stress and anxiety. My derm says acne like this around the chin and jaw is usually stress or hormone related.
