CSE Meeting
Question: My daughter's CSE meeting went well today they are willing to place my daughter out of district. My daughter had such a rough school year for kindergarten where she required a lot of services this year. My daughter have a couple of issues. She was recently diagnosed with executive functioning disorder(working memory, processing speed, attention and impulse control), Mixed Expressive and Receptive language delay and Development Delay in some areas due to her prematurity. One of her greatest strengths according to the Wechsler Academic Achievement test her skills are superior in Alphabet Writing, Early Reading Skills, and Spelling she is very gifted. She did not do so well in Math she is borderline. She has a lot of spender skills which means that she great in a lot areas but have still have a lot of issues especially her processing speed. The district is offering placement at the school of language and communication development and BOCES. I have heard not some great things about SCLD and I do not know about the BOCES program. I do agree district that my daughter do need a language enrichment program. The downside of her going into a private school she will not be with typically developing peers. I guess my question if I do not the like the choices they are giving me and would like to look for a school that would work on my daughter's language issues can I get the school to pay for the I choose? Do the schools need to be NY State Approved?

Re: CSE Meeting
If your district is offering placement at SLCD I definitely recommend looking at it. I worked there for 7 years and still do over the summer and they are incredible. They have so many wonderful opportunities for the kids and they have three schools so she can work her way though up until HS (if needed).
I would definitely call and set up a visit. She can spend some time in the classroom and you can view on camera how she relates to the other students. If you have any other questions about the program, please feel free to FM me! I really have seen such incredible progress in almost every student I had there. Good luck!
