Cyst in my left ovary...
How normal is this? Should I be freaking out? Was told this morning that I can't start our IVF protocol because I have a cyst in my left ovary. That we need to wait until next cycle, but is that it? no treatment? Dr said it usually goes away on its own, I've never had cysts before, this is a first for me, so not sure if I should be panicking or not? And now I'm nervous about next month? Any advice, would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
If your doctor didn't tell you it was something to worry about, then I wouldn't. I had a cyst in one or both ovaries after a few of my cycles. If you had smaller follicles during the cycle they might not have released eggs when you ovulated, and from what I understand those can turn into cysts. Mine always went away within the month. Good luck!

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
thank you! Yes she said it would go away on its own, it measured about 13mm (or whatever measurement they use on the sonogram)That we just have to wait until my next cycle. But of course, while she said its common, it's been freaking me out all day, since I never had this issue first time around. I guess I'll pray extra hard that ovaries are clear next month. Right one was totally fine.

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
Cysts are pretty common. Were you on any meds last month? Are you doing IVF? This is typically why REs put you on BCPs for a couple of weeks prior to a cycle.

Cyst in my left ovary...
Cysts are common and you probably have had them but it never really mattered until you start treatments.

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
Ob call said I can wait out the month and see what happens or he can put me on birth Control which would helps calm the ovaries down so to speak. He said he'd want to put me on them for 3 months though, which obviously I don't want to do. But should I do the birth control for this month (since I have to wait anyways) and then just go on day 2 of next month? Does that affect anything? I have to call my ivf dr tomorrow and get her input but wanted to check in with you guys...should I just do the pills for a month? Or wait it out?

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
Ask your RE before doing anything. They know more on this situation then an OB. Cysts are very common and often go away within the cycle. I got several from the drugs I was on, but they never produced estrogen. My guess is yours do. Trust in what your rE says. Waiting sucks, but it's for the best.

Re: Cyst in my left ovary...
I had one before my first IUI cycle. It was pretty large (60 mm) but it went away on its own in a month.
