Cyst on Ovary?

At my 8 wk sono my OB pointed out that I had a small fluid filled cyst on one of my ovaries - he made it out like it was no big deal, nothing to be concerned about at all and that it would most likely go away on its own and even if it didn't it wouldn't be a concern.

But, of course, I am concerned Chat Icon Chat Icon I've never had a cyst before and I have no idea what this means for me and my baby. Has anyone had one during pregnancy and what happened?

TIA!

Re: Cyst on Ovary?

I had one at around 10 weeks and it burst. It hurt really bad but didn't effect the baby at all. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant!

Wanted to add I've had cyst in the past and sometime they just went away on there own without bursting.

Thank you! I'm so sorry that it hurt! That must have been scary!

Re: Cyst on Ovary?

I had a cyst on my ovary that we saw on the sono after I had my miscarriage...NOT RELATED!!! My dr told me that sometimes cysts form where you ovulated that month and it was nothing to worry about, it would go away on it own.

Re: Cyst on Ovary?

at my 12 week sono they saw a rather large one. i've had cysts before so i wasnt alarmed and neither was the tech.

they brought me in again at 16 weeks and it was almost gone. Dr. said it could have been a residual effect of the clomid.

but none the less..most cysts are usually harmless and go away on their own.

Cysts are totally normal in the beginning most of the time the doctors don't even mention them unless they are a problem. I had one both times and the OB said that I think everyone has one in the beginning it is the corpus lutem.

My dr told me the same thing. It's nothing to worry about.
