donating to a shelter or rescue- anyone have info?
I have a bunch of old blankets and sheets that I'm getting rid of. They are used but not in bad condition. I have heard that sometimes shelters or rescues need sheets and blankets for the dogs. Is this true? If so does anyone know of any places I can donate too? I'm in Nassau.
Thanks!

Yes! Little Shelter in Huntington always needs blankets. Just FYI -- they do not except bulky comforters. They wash all their blankets on their own (and quite often), so they need to be able to fit in a standard sized washing machine.

Yes-absolutely true! I always like to recommend FurBabies in East Rockaway for these sorts of things. They are a wonderful, small rescue group.

Kids-Adopt-a-Shelter is always taking blanket donations.
Also - Break the Chain program. They are a local LI organization that financially assists families who don't have the money to care for their pets, while keeping them in their homes. They also teach the families to properly care for a pet , training and teaching them that those dogs don't need those huge heavy chains around their necks. A lot of the families used to only keep their dogs outside and now bring them in because of the help from the BTC program. But a lot of the dogs are still kept outside in the winter, so they usually take blanket donations. They are 2 woman that run the program and they are out all day, I think everyday, no matter the weather taking care of these dogs/cats

TOH Shelter in Wantagh is always looking for blankets/sheets etc. You can just drop off, they're right across from Wantagh HS. They have a few hundred dogs there so they appreciate anything that is donated!
