I haven't used hair dye in years. I just bought some and was reading up on the hair dye allergy test. You have to leave a swabbed amount behind your ear for 48 hrs. So, I am not showering? Was thinking of covering it with a few bandaids ??

My husband wanted to color his hair and he actually did the test!! I colored my hair for years and never even thought it about it.

I never did it either. Too impatient! I think it is ok to shower with it. You wouldn't normally leave dye on your scalp/skin for 48 hours. I think the 48 hours is just to see if there is a delayed reaction from what was put on your skin before you rinsed it.

I've never done it. I never understood doing the test if the box says you are supposed to throw out the remaining dye after you use it? So you to mix it up, use a little on your skin and then, and throw the rest out?

I've never done it.

And you don't leave the swab on for 48 hrs. You rinse it off and check for an allergic reaction within 48 hrs.

and I always thought that the dye wasn't good after a few hours of mixing so I am not really sure how you are even supposed to do it?
