Acid reflux question
Has anyone tried acidophilus or probiotic instead of a medication to get rid of this? I can't take any meds because it brings in anxiety. Been using pepto and bob mills baking soda since may on and off.

Re: Acid reflux question
I've found that a mix of probiotics and apple cider vinegar help tremendously. Limiting stress is a huge factor for me as well.

Re: Acid reflux question
I had a reaction to probiotics, they don't agree with me at all. Killed my stomach.
Manuka Honey works for acid reflux. I put it on toast in the morning on an empty stomach.

Acid reflux question
what medications have you tried? there are a host of them out there, and many of them work in different ways, so while one med might cause a problem, there are others that work differently, that might not cause a reaction. you've got the zantac type of meds, the omeprazole which is a proton pump inhibitor, which is totally different than zantac style. there is sulfacrate which just coats the stomach. also part of the question is what is causing the reflux, is it the wrong foods in your diet, the muscle at the top of the stomach doesn't close properly, poor pressure in the esophagus causing food not to go down properly? you should really talk to a gastro to find something that works. i'm honestly not sure how a probiotic would work for reflux since its designed to work in the intestines. whereas reflux is coming from the stomach/esophagus.

Acid reflux question
I went to a gastro today. I am going to try Zantac 150 OTC and scheduled for a endoscopy next week. He told me to stop baking soda and pepto and try mylanta.

Re: Acid reflux question
I had bad acid reflux for years. Took so many different kinds of meds. It just masked the problem. Had endoscopy, showed nothing.
I mentioned it to my new PCP while having initial consult and he asked if I was ever tested for H-Pylori. I never was. So he sent me for the test and it was positive. I was treated with a massive amount of horse pill antibiotics for I think 10-14 days (It was 2 years ago) After that, I only get heart burn when eating something spicy or to close to bedtime. No more acid reflux.
Just throwing that out there.

Acid reflux question
If you have H Pylori, I would try Mastic Gum extract pills before the antibiotics.
Also, Zantac will just treat the symptoms, not the cause. Manuka Honey (and Mastic gum) will likely get rid of the cause. All of these PPI's and other meds just make it worse in the end. Of course the doctors dismiss anything natural, mine did after my endo follow up when I told him the honey was working.

I thought I was the only one who had that problem with probiotics... So not worth it and it did nothing for my reflux...

Acid reflux question
I tried probiotics and after a few weeks it caused so much bloating I was in pain. i stopped using it but then 6 months later I tried it again and it was great. I think the body need time to adjust to it.
