Changing sprinkler company?

This is all new to me..
We bought the house and were told that company X does the sprinklers.
But now, looking at what everyone on here is being charged, I think we're getting ripped off!

Can you simply change sprinkler companies? Does this company have any 'rights' to our system since they were the ones who put it in 15+ years ago??

Um...yes you can hire who you damn well please.

I use RPM sprinklers. They charge $65 for open and $65 for close. They are a smidge more expensive than other services but they have been doing me for years and I am happy with the service.

How much are you paying?

And you can call them and say "thank you I don't need your services anymore". There is no WAY you are under contract unless YOU specifically signed one. And then they usually only yearly anyway.

I hope this wasn't meant in a rude way...? This is all new to me (as I was renting in a NYC apartment for 10 years)..

They are charging me $170 for open and close. I have 11 zones.

They usually charge by the zone. I think we used to pay over $300 every time we needed to open or close our system (17 zones) and this was well over 5 years ago. My DH eventually got tired of paying for it knowing he could do it himself with our compressor. Chat Icon

ETA: the company we were using had been servicing our home for years (they serviced the prior homeowners), but we just told them we would no longer be needing their services.

If you haven't signed a contract I can't see why not. I would just tell the current company that you no longer need their services.

$170 for open and close? That's INSANE.

Several of the girls on the site and I use McCormack Irrigation 631 744 1500. They are located in Miller Place but travel all over the island. I have 14 zones and pay $50 for open and close ($100 total).
