Going to Savannah, GA for my birthday in October
I am so excited: I have always wanted to see Savannah and really wanted to get away from my birthday this year!
Now, if anyone been to Savannah and has any words of wisdom to share, I am all ears... well, eyes, in this case!

My friend recently went and couldn't stop raving about the bike tour they did. They have huge shared pedal bikes that groups can ride together to do tours or pub crawls. She did the drinking version and really enjoy it but I think they may have more family oriented tours if you're going with kids.

Just walking around the area is a lot of fun...so much architecture to look at. Lots of places have live music going, and you can walk around with booze...woohoo!!!
Moon River Brewing Company is awesome!
Goosefeathers Café for breakfast/brunch.
Leopold's Ice Cream...ahh, such delicious ice cream. Yum!

Re: Going to Savannah, GA for my birthday in October
I have family down there, so I've been a few times. I heard great things about Leopold's, but I didn't eat there for some reason.
There is some good shopping down by Leopold's. It's nice to walk around, too. My cousin owns the District Cafe and Eatery (on Abercorn and E. Boughton), so feel free to stop in there for lunch . I also liked Lady and Sons, but I know it isn't the best southern food. There is a better place I heard, but I forgot the name of it...
I love walking down River Street and I love the Savannah Candy Company.
You can do a day trip to Tybee Island. If you are a Gone With the Wind fan, go to Charleston and check out Boone Hall (12 Oaks in the movie). I also went to a Civil War Fort when I was there last, but I forget the name.
If you like cemeteries, Bonaventure is cool. You will see lots of hanging moss there. If you liked the movie/book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, then I think you can do a tour. I never saw/read it so I didn't do that.
Have fun!

Re: Going to Savannah, GA for my birthday in October
Was just there this summer with my family.
I think Leopolds ice cream is over rated. It was good but have it once and move on.
Tequila town was amazing!
Funky brunch cafe, get the funky bread!
Slow ride looked fun. Keg on board or a bar crawl on a funky bike thing that you petal with other singing drunk people.
Tybee was a nice beach. Jelly fish were bad in august.
