clueless about double strollers!
I'm reading all of these posts about double strollers, and I still have no idea what to do! I already have 1 dc, and another on the way, and they will be a little more than 2.5 years apart. I have a chicco car seat, and honestly I don't want to get a new one. My question is...what should I do? Will my older dc not really need a stroller for that much longer? How old do they typically use a stroller for? Is side by side better than front and back? Can the double strollers fit in a Murano?? Ahhh...sorry for all of these questions but I would appreciate any advice on this! Plus, is there an affordable lightweight double stroller? I'm not looking to spend $600-$800 unless it's something I can use for the next 5 years and it would meet all of the above criteria!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: clueless about double strollers!
my dd are 21 months apart. I struggled also but I found that I do use the double stroller for walks and at festivals etc. I really never used it going shopping cause i either wear the little one or we put the older in a cart or single stroller. I was not spending 500- 800 on a new one and found a gently used Bumble on FB group for way less than i would pay in the store. I figure how long am i really going to use it. Its side by side and it fits thru all doorways and in my Highlander/ Pilot perfectly

I'm in just about the same boat. DD will be a little over 2.5 and I'd love something that can hold my chicco infant seat. We don't use the stroller often but when we do obviously it's a huge help. I want to head to BBB to test them out and see what I like and plan to bring DD to get an idea. Some of the ones I want to check out are the city mini double (I'd probably look for a used one on CL), the chicco double (which I think will be too heavy), the joovy doubles, and the baby trend sit and stands. No idea what I'll end up with though!

Re: clueless about double strollers!
I was back and forth about getting a double stroller especially since they are so pricey. But I ended up getting the City Select Double. I like this one because it works with my graco car seat (with the adapter), and you can position the seats in so many different ways. And if I only have one kid with me I can use it as a single stroller. I got it from Pishposhbaby.com - it was a lot cheaper on there. Good luck with your decision. It gets so overwhelming.

Re: clueless about double strollers!
I'm a big fan of side by side.
I got the joovy x2. Under $200. Open box & coupon. It's a great stroller, a bit clunkier than the more $ brands, but I used it for a year (dd was 3 months to 1.5 years). After that, DS was 3, DD was 1.5 & we walked them everywhere. It def fits in a murano (I have the same size trunk), folds ok, has a huge basket & fits through doors (it is as wide as a wheelchair & that's what doors are regulated for). The citi double steered better, but was nore slouchy for the kids. The only real issue is the carseat does not snap in. We did, however, stick the kid in the stroller directly at 3 months old.
Depends on how you operate, I see lots of 5 year olds in strollers... Then, it makes sense to spend more $. My DS stopped with the stroller at 3 & DD even younger. They can literally walk all day long (and do).

My boys are a little over 2 years apart and I opted for the City Mini double. I love it. My older one is almost 5 now and we still use it - mainly for walks, the zoo, Disney. I try to walk with them 2-3x a week so I feel like I got my moneys worth.
