What did the dr say?

I went to a new doc on Friday and he is testing for every thing first. Cdiff, giardia, certain markers for colitis, etc. lots of blood work including electrolytes. He thinks it might be coming from my small intestines and isn't convinced that it is IBS. But I am happy I went to him. The other doc didnt even do any significant tests. This doc was very thorough. It's a wait and see for the results. I'm still having diarrhea. It sucks!

I let you know when those results come back, but I'm sure i will have to have procedures done.

What doctor is this?

I've been having a similar issue. I was bad for 2-3 weeks, it stopped for a week but now it back.

Dr. Akerman in bayshore. I am very happy with him.

Do,you have anxiety? I was having a lot of similar issues had blood tests, blood work showed possibility for celiac but i didnt do the endoscopy. Also likely gastritis (been on prilosec) I did start lexipro and my issues have been better.

Desperate for advice.....stomach issues.

I would suggest dr Christine gizoni in sayville. She did kinesiology on me and determined I had a gluten, dairy, and corn intolerance. This can cause chronic diarrhea gas etc

Desperate for advice.....stomach issues.

C reactive protein just indicates inflammation somewhere in your body. Even a small cold can cause crp to elevate

Over the past 5 years I have had tons of tests done....3 endoscopes, a colonoscopy, hida scan, and sonos. The only thing it revealed was GERD.

For the past almost 5 weeks I have had diarrhea that is mostly water. I went to my PCP and we did a stool test which came back normal. My diarrhea happens mostly at 4 am and lasts until around 12. I can go like 10-15 times within that time frame. Oh, I also have nasty burps...so nasty that my DH says who farted but that was my burp. Chat Icon

I finally made an appt on Friday with a new gastro and he basically told me it was ibs and to eat more fiber and relax my mind and stop stressing. He also took blood to test my CBC and thyroid.

Well forward to today. I tried to follow docs instructions and had some broccoli and bought fiber one cereal. Well last night it started earlier. I was up 3 times last night and when I woke up my stomach did not feel well at all. I ended up vomiting up my dinner from 6 pm last night. I have had nonstop diarrhea even after taking kaopectate. So I called the doc again and he said that he thinks i have a severe case of ibs and to keep the follow up appt in 3 weeks.

Is this normal for ibs? I have had ibs forever but never had diarrhea for 5 weeks straight. Any advice would be great.

Update
So a couple of months ago I had tons of tests done. Everything was fine and after 6 weeks of diarrhea I felt better and the diarrhea subsided. Well guess what....it has returned. On Tuesday in doing a capsule endoscopy to check my small intestines. If that comes back fine doc says its ibs. Is it possible for someone with ibs to has persistent diarrhea for months. I mean waterChat Icon no formed poop at all. Like up to 20 times a day.

I have always had issues with ibs but never so bad. It's debilitating. It happens all morning and wipes me out. I'm exhausted.

Any more advice would be great especially from those that have severe ibs.

I had that procedure in June. The prep isn't as bad as for a colonoscopy.
Did the dr rule out crohns disease?
Good luck!

No. I think that's why he is looking at my small intestines. Yeah, the prep seems okay. I just can't eat after 1 tomorrow. Only liquids.

Have you had food sensitivity testing? Wait and see what the colonoscopy says(by the way I need one too-had pain under my rib in colon area for a month so having one) but after that see if you can get the food testing. You probably need a Naturopath to do it.
