My remaining embies
I called this morning to find the scoop out on my 5 remaining embies and the embryologist said that all 5 were frozen the same day as my day 3 transfer. I thought it was strange because I always hear on here how most places wait till day 5 or 6 to determine whether or not an embryo will be frozen but he said that LI IVF always freezes the day of transfer. So the 5 were graded like this:
9 cell grade 2
8 cell grade 2
Two 6 cells grade 2
4 cell grade 2
Do these grades sound ok?
He said they like between 4-8 cells and that grade 2 is the most common and that they rarely grade embies with grade 1. I'm wondering why they transferred an 8 cell into me and not that 9? Did any of you ladies ever have your embryos frozen at day 3?

I had embryos frozen on day 3 when I went to North Shore and they let some go to day 5 and froze those. Each practice has their own protocol and I can only guess they felt that may have been the best decision. You can always call the embryologist back and ask why they transferred the 8cell oppose to the 9 cell. I've found the "best ones" or as my RE said "mine were perfect" aren't always the ones that stick.

More cells does not necessarily mean better quality embryo.

I think they like 8 cells the best. Fewer means they are growing slower and more can mean that they are growing too quickly.
I know how easy it is to overthink the grading and the "chances" and everything else. The dr looked at me like I was nuts when I told him I wanted my grades so I could google the "chances" of them working.
Mine were frozen on day 3 as well.

Mine were frozen on day 3 as well.
Did you ever have a FET? If so how were your day 3 embies during the thawing process and did it result in a pregnancy?

I had three FET's.
Transferred one in January. BFP that resulted in MC.
Transferred two in May. BFN.
Transferred two in July and am currently 16 weeks pregnant with a singleton.
I *think* all were 8-10 cell, grade 1-2.

At my last retrieval, they ended up freezing 2 on day 3 (same day as my transfer) and a third one on day 5.

I agree. I put back my best embryo and then one they were going to "watch" another day to see what happened and froze my other excellent ones. I figured the late bloomer wouldn't make it, but I am preg with twins 
Out of the 5-6 they "watched" for that extra day, only one made it to freeze in addition to the ones we froze on day 5. So there is something to be said for embryos doing better in utero I think.
