does anyone feel this way..
each year is the same, because I feel like a mouse on a wheel running round and round. I always think the new year will different and I'll be in a different place. By that I mean, financially, emotionally, family wise, career wise.. When I look back at the past year it feels like nothing has changed. I know I've been through a great deal over the last few years but I cant seem to get off the f wheel.
I actually hate seeing a year end and it makes me sad when a new one begins.
vent over.

Re: does anyone feel this way..
I felt that way many years ago when I was in my early to mid 20's. I was in a very bad place mentally/emotionally back then.
I'm very sorry you feel this way!

Re: does anyone feel this way..
DH feels like this all the time. It makes it hard for him to enjoy even the little things. I feel like this sometimes, especially when big things go wrong. I can understand why it's hard to deal with. i have days when i will send DH and DS out and just lie in bed and stare at the wall.
but in the end, i am who i am and i get myself together after a good cry and try to fight that feeling and do something to change it.
for me, it helps to focus on the little victories and the present. if i concentrate too much on the whole or the future it becomes overwhelming again.
i had a new year's list of 10 tasks to accomplish. i have accomplished 2. i could see that as a failure and give up. i choose to see it as a small step in the right direction.
hope you feel better

Yes. I feel this way. New year is nothing but a date on the calendar. Its the same crap day in and day out. There's no such thing as a light at the end of the tunnel its just a mirage. So I decided to enjoy the mess I'm in. Sure I'm up to my eyeballs in debt and lots of things aren't great (health, family, etc) but ya know what? It would still be crappy in some other way. Love the devil you know.
I don't set up expectations I set reality. I want to SURVIVE next year, I want to survive this year frankly. I don't have any realistic dreams of paying off debt and having extra cash or savings account with more than $30 in it. That's REALITY. But hey its better than filing for bankruptcy. haha :)

Re: does anyone feel this way..
Usually I feel like year to year, other than the years I've had kids, things have been about the same. I would say this is the first year I started making some headway with at least one of my goals, losing weight. It feels good to end the year lighter instead of heavier.........for once.
I do love the promise of a new, fresh year though. I'm really looking forward to 2015, moreso than other years, I feel like it will be a good one. At least that is what I am hoping.

Re: does anyone feel this way..
New Years Eve always saddens me. I think of the people we lost, that won't be there in the next year with us. I also feel like I am nowhere near who I thought I would be by now. The past 4 years dealing with IF were the worst.
This year, I am concentrating on other things. The accomplishments of the year, not what I didn't achieve. There are some things I will never get (like having a child) and this entire 2014 has been about getting used to that fact. 2015 will be about setting a new goal. I may not be who I thought I would be by now, but I'm happy with the new me
I hope you find some joy in this new year

I feel the same way OP. Every year I think ok this will be the year I will grow- financially, emotionally, find a better job, be surrounded by better ppl when its the same crappola over and over again. Then, just like you, I look back at everything I have been thru and feel like ok when will it get better, easier.....But again, we have to count our blessings I guess as so many ppl are dealing with much worse. Come January I will be struck yet again with the winter, new yr blues....

I do get the winter blues even though I like snow.
I have been through a great deal over the last few years, cancer, surgeries, new job, but I never reflect on those as accomplishments and I should, people tell me Im too hard on myself so I am working on that !! but still..

Re: does anyone feel this way..
yes!!! I am usually a pretty happy person, but my dad died 8 years ago and then we made a really bad financial decision immediately afterwards. We cannot get out from under the bad decision due to a number of circumstances out of our control but it's like the horrible gift that keeps on giving. And in a weird way it's all tied together in my head. I really hate this negative crazy person I seem to have become and I try to fight it, but it is really hard until this financial issue is resolved. Also, I'm a crap or get off the pot type of person, so to have my life hostage to this situation that's out of my control is soooo frustrating.
Not to add to your vent, but I totally understand what you are saying. Hope that you (and I) get off the wheel soon! (As a friend used to say "Stop the world! I want to get off!)

Re: does anyone feel this way..
I'm ready for this year to be over but try to remind myself of everything I have to be thankful for, and it's a lot.
I feel the same way thinking that a new year will be different but it's really not. There are certain things that I'm unhappy with and it's up to me to change them. I am also really hard on myself (hello mommy guilt) and really need to ease up and take better care of myself.
Here's to 2015 bringing us all that we hope.

Yes, fell that away often but I try to tell myself that are people worse off than myself. Yes I have debt, yes my dh and I have ****** hours at work but at the end of the day, we provide a loving home, we have a roof over our heads. Our family is healthy and happy.
I actually like New Year's Eve it's my favorite holiday. We work retail and the holidays are crazy. I look forward to the downtime and my tax return lol. New Year's Eve we close early, we order Chinese and relax at home in our sweats and just hang. It's a nice cozy night...

I feel liek it around the holidays with all the parties, shopping dinners etc. but during the year I refuse to over schedule myself or my family. Anytime I start to get that way we take weekends and do nothing or sit on the beach or something like that.

Re: does anyone feel this way..
Yes, i feel the same way. Ive been trying to focus on the smaller picture and just take it day by day. I try to make every day successful and happy and once its over I leave it in the past and move on to the next day. When I start thinking about where I was last year or 2 years ago I remind myself of all the great things that happened or all the hurdles that I faced and conquered daily to get here. If that makes any sense! I am tired today

Re: does anyone feel this way..
I don't really see the new year as a new beginning, I guess I just view life as fluid. I don't look at anything as having these structured starts/ends, it's every changing. You can change things (or not) whenever you want.
I just hate the new year because that means the fun holidays are over and there's still a bunch of crap weather to come!

Sorry u feel that way. I get it.
There's not enough hours in the day for what needs to get done, let alone for any extras.
We must be kind to ourselves.
