Sight words and math - kindergarten
DS gets popcorn words or sight words to memorize. He's been doing great learning them all, but there's a lot to remember. I bought sticky pads and put them around the house for him to find and memorize. We make a game out of it. I move them around so he has to find them and add more when he gets more words. There's also videos on youtube he watches with songs and stories. Anything else or other ideas I can do or you've done to help make it fun to learn?
For math I got dominos to help him count and add as well.
Just looking for more ideas. Thanks!

There are so many ideas on Pinterest. Check out Playdough to Plato, she is one of my favorites for fun learning. She is trying to sell some stuff, but has some great freebies too.Playdough to Plato

Re: Sight words and math - kindergarten
The teacher in my son's class just has us write 3 sight words a week on index cards & go over them nightly with the other sight words he's learned since starting.
He likes to make sentences out of the words with the cards when he can.
He also gets extremely excited when he sees a sight word in a book, on a sign, anywhere actually! (I have to admit, I find it exciting too!)

Before I read to my kindergartener at night he scans the book and screams out his sight words if he sees them - this was his idea and I am going along with it and quite amused and excited at how excited he is to be learning

I went the boring flash card route -We review them every night - I also read to him and make him follow along - whenever I hit a sight word I stop and let him read it -

Re: Sight words and math - kindergarten
I just use the list and have dd pick the sight words out of books we read together,
As for math, at the beginning of the year the teacher sent the go math book home and we do a few pages every school night. My dd loves things like this so she is starting the addition chapter. They are up to number nine in class.

You can make up games. I like to play memory right words on index cards turn over and find matches. also a game like go fish. (I cut index card in half for memory and leave big for a card game)
