Anyone have a jacket or coat from LL Bean?

I was looking into Northface jackets because I have yet to own a warm enough jacket for the tundra we live in.

However, in my research, I came across a smilar type from LL Bean. It was slightly less expensive ($199 vs $230 for the Northface I wanted) and yet, it had a higher down fill weight.

I know everyone raves about Northface, but I am wondering if this would be even warmer due to the higher down fill - and it's a little cheaper too.

Anyone have an LL Bean?

I've always owned LL Bean jackets & find they truly keep you warm & last forever. I let my husband talk me into a lightweight Northface for my birthday. Well I'm freezing in the jacket. I just told hi to get me the LL Bean jacket I wanted for Christmas

I have an LL Bean winter jacket that I bought last year. It's super thin, but keeps me warm. Shortly after I bought it though, I noticed some of the down coming out from really tiny holes. LL Bean took it back without an issue. I exchanged it for a new jacket, which has held up better.

I have an old North Face from like 9 years ago that is the warmest thing EVER. I recently bought a new one and I am not impressed. Feathers are coming out & I am FREEZING in it. For a $300 coat, it sucks. I'm going to look at LL Bean & Lands End after Christmas.

'LL Bean is awesome. I had one for 10+ years that got me through college in Cleveland and Plattsburgh and back home again. Warm, comfortable and very durable.

Thanks guys! I was really surprised that it was cheaper yet had a much higher down fill.
I wondered if it was for a reason though- like if the quality wasn't as good as North Face.

Looking at this one...I like a short jacket.

I've had a few and the ones they have this year have some great colors. I doubt you will find quality issues with L.L. Bean.

OK so it must have been meant to be ,because all day yesterday I was contemplating it, and I get home and there is a catalog for LL Bean in the mail. Now I have never gotten one before so that was odd enough, and then on the front- 20% off your order and free shipping, no minimum.

So I ended up ordering the jacket and getting 20% off and free shipping, and went through ebates for another 3% back.

It's backordered until Jan 4th- but I'm so excited to get it now!!
And what a great deal for an 850 down fill jacket!

LL Bean makes the best stuff! I love their boots (for me and kids). I have a long jacket and wanted a shorter one, I will check this one out.

I have an LL Bean one and a NF one and my NF is much warmer.

My LL Bean is so old, I don't remember the fill info. My NF is 550

Llbean is the best. Their return policy is amazing! And I would think the only difference between them and the others is that they aren't a designer name.

Update- it arrived yesterday even though they said it was back-ordered until January 4th.

It is SOOOOO ridiculously light that I cannot believe how warm it is.
It feels like you are wearing a light windbreaker...not puffy at all, not restricting at all, not bulky.

But just trying it on in my house I was sweating.

It is beautiful and seems to be made really well.

The true test is a freezing cold day, but so far I am so glad I went with the LL Bean.
