Age 1 switching to milk
We're approaching my daughters 1st birthday in a few weeks and I'm starting to read about transitioning her to milk.. I've read a lot about goats milk - anyone have any opinions with it or any advice in general on switching ? Also she's been on Nutramigen for a long time do to lactose allergy. Dr says most lactose allergies go away by age 1.

My DD was on Alimentum and we had to gradually introduce whole milk to her bc she had a reaction one time when we gave her a little too much. Every 2 weeks we gave her a 1/2 ounce more of whole milk mixed with her formula. Eventually it was all whole milk and no formula. We give her Organic Whole Milk but I will soon be trying Organic Coconut milk which is dairy free. I want her to still have dairy but I've been reading a lot of great stuff on Almond and Coconut milk.

We transitioned to Almond milk instead of cow's milk. It was a decision we made because of our views on dairy in our diets. She drinks it with no issues, though she has never know any different. She switched from breast milk at 14 months...I didn't mix them, just switched to full cups of milk.

Age 1 switching to milk
Dd was on alimentum and adjusted to milk with no issues. I did it slowly. 1oz milk to 5oz formula. Every day I upped the milk by an oz and decreased formula by an oz.

My dd was on Alimentum and we transitioned to Almond Milk. I tried to transition to reg milk and she couldn't tolerate it. She doesn't have an allergy just an intolerance.

We only drink goat milk in our home and my son took to it very well. I actually did cold turkey and he never seemed to mind. The only thing about goat milk is that it is expensive! I pay $10.99 at Fairway for a half gallon:\

Do you give her yogurt, cheese or other dairy? If so can she tolerate that? If yes I would slowly transition to regular milk an ounce at a time.
I would discuss with your dr about switching to anything else before you do.
My daughter was on Nutramigen. At 8 months I tried yogurt and she couldn't tolerate it. At a year I tried yogurt again and she was okay with it. So I went slowly backwards, Nutramigen to gentlease, gentlease to regular and regular to milk. By 15 months she was on milk and she's been fine.

I still BF but we added Hemp Milk to DS' diet.
I think it has the best nutritional profile of the non-dairy milk beverages, except for soy and I don't feel comfortable giving DS that much soy on a regular basis.

Goat's milk is your best dairy option because it's closer to human milk (structurally) than cow's.
There are a lot of dairy free options as well. I've given my DD almond, coconut, and flax milk. I would probably go this route if your LO has a lactose intolerance.

My husband occasionally drinks Hemp milk...I have bought it at Trader Joes.
