Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

I was thinking of going to one of those 3D sono place to try and find out the gender a little bit early, at 16 weeks. Also because its easier for DH to come with me if I schedule it when he is off, and the place I go to for my 20 week sono/anatomy scan only does it at certain times.

If you've done a sono and found out the gender at 16 weeks, was it accurate? Am I better off just waiting for the 20 week anatomy scan?

Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

The parts are there so if the tech can see them then yes.

If the babies in the right position and you can positively see the 3 lines (girl) or penis and testicles then your good.

If you get a well the cord's in the way but it looks like a...or an iffy answer then I would wait and try again a few weeks later. Some babies just aren't cooperate but their sex organs are fully formed and there.

Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

We went at 16 weeks to a 3d place t find out gender and dd didn't cooperate. We went back two weeks later and she cooperated. I think if they cooperate, it's usually accurate at 16 weeks. Go! I want to know too lol!

Never been to those places. A little off topic question but did you try the Ramzi theory?

For a BOY, yes, very accurate.

I saw my boy's parts at 12 weeks by regular ultrasound. It was absolutely clear it was a HE.

With the girl, we couldn't be 100% sure til 20 weeks.

I had regular sonos at 16 weeks in both my twin pregnancies and they were correct with their "guesses". Although I am still pregnant with the second set so I guess that could change!! But every sono afterwards confirmed it to be true.

Re: Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

With DS, I fell running into Penn Station at 16 weeks, and my OB had me go in for a sono. Regular old sono…..and she was able to see at that time that he was a he. Of course, she cautioned me to wait for confirmation - but she also said she was pretty certain.

I can only imagine that a 3d sono would have even better resolution.

Good luck!

Take your early pregnancy ultrasound (probably at 6-7 weeks) and see what side the placenta or yolk sac implanted. Right it's a boy/ left its a girl the accuracy is 97%. If it's was a vaginal ultrasound you read the pic exactly how it looks . If it was abdominal you have to flip it.

Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

Had an early anatomy scan for both my pregnancies at 16 weeks and both were clear as day that it was a boy. Didn't need to be a sono tech to figure it out. However, it's all about the baby's cooperation. Lucky for me, both my sons are were never shy to show their parts!

Just had a sono at 16 weeks and they said it was a girl. Our blood test also confirmed this info.

Re: Sono at 16 weeks- accurate for gender?

I went to one at 16w3days and she "thought" they were girls but couldn't be sure. I went back a week later (no additional charge) and she was confident they were girls (im having identical twins). She said she's never been wrong.

I went for my anatomy scan last week (20 weeks) and they said 100% they are girls so she was right.
