Need major paint help.
I've posted here before that my style is very vintage/retro/rustic inspired.
On a whim, we bought new living room furniture that, while definitely giving a retro feel, totally changes the vibe and décor of the room. We have a small house, but the living room and kitchen is separated by a half wall, and they share a wall that runs the length both rooms.
Right now, back wall is painted Valspar Beach House Blue
The long wall that runs into the kitchen is painted Valspar Frosty Grass
And the kitchen is painted Valspar Coral Peach
However, this is our new furniture set (we got the couch, loveseat, chair and a half and ottoman)
I realize that this looks like a total mish mosh, but it really works!
My dilemma is that now DH wants to paint all the walls the same color - which would be OK, except that he is gunning for a very neutral color, like the "greiges" and tans that are just SO not our (my) style He wants to take the direction away from our funky cottage vibe and make it more of a Hamptons style coastal look, with the dark blue furniture, lots of white trim, maybe some pallet accents, etc. DH and I are both really into decorating and we get so many compliments on our décor and style, so it's going to be so hard for me to part with my relaxing colors and go for a more streamlined, modern coastal look.
So, bearing all of that in mind, can you suggest some neutral paint colors? My main concern is that colors change in certain lighting, and can look more yellow or brown or gray that you intended. Are there any true cool neutrals that don't change so much with the light? Our house faces east and we get a lot of sunlight into the living room.
Thank you!
