Laminate Wood Floors
Does anyone have them? Looking to hear the good and bad compared to real hard wood floors. Are they as durable?

Re: Laminate Wood Floors
This is just my opinion but I think laminate wood floors look cheap, they don't look anywhere near real hardwood. If you have a choice, go with the real hardwood (or engineered hardwood), it costs more but in the end looks SO much nicer.

Not always
If you buy a good quality laminate, you can hardly tell the difference. Plus, it holds up much better then hardwood for High Traffic areas and if you have animals.
We did our entire 2nd floor in Arnold Premium Collection Mystic Walnut. It was practically the same price as hardwood, but a better bet for us because of our pets.
We were planning on doing the whole house but when we ripped up carpet downstairs, there was wood there that just needed to be refinished. $$$ was tight, so we left it alone.
The downstairs floors are scratched and warn in places. The upstairs floors look exactly as they did when we put them down.

Your room looks very nice but I still think real hardwood has a look that can't be replicated by Laminate flooring. JMO.

Re: Laminate Wood Floors
I don't have laminated in the house I bought but I did have it in the one rented.
I didn't mind the way laminated looked I personally thought they looked good but I also don't care about stuff like this.
I will say we have real hardwood floors in our house and with the dogs and kids they have to be refinished again and we have only been in the house for a few years. its a very high traffic area right now and if I had a choice I would have went with laminated wood floors.

Re: Laminate Wood Floors
We have engineered hardwood because we were installing on a slab, it is CRAZY durable. It doesn't wear like regular hardwood at all, in fact, it doesn't wear at all. We've had them for ten years now in a high traffic area (kids and dogs) and they looks as perfect as they day we installed them.

I have engineered and they look horrible after only 5 years. I have a large dog and a 3yo. We are also on a slab so we had to do engineered or laminate. I went with a high quality engineered and wish I went with laminate. Mine look horrible.

Yes. Laminate looks different then wood. Obviously. But I was replying to your post stating that laminate looks cheap. And I said not always. If you buy a good quality laminate, you can get a beautiful product. That lasts, and looks new a lot longer then real wood - If you need that for high traffic or pets.
