Hypnobirthing
Anyone try this? Seems interesting but I'd love to hear if anyone has done this with success. I'm not totally against having an epidural but I just want to arm myself as best as possible to prep for child birth.

Hypnobirthing
I will be doing it, my midwife raves about it. She says women typically stay much calmer and more relaxed. You can watch some birth videos on YouTube. The level of calm of these women is amazing !

Hypnobirthing
I'm in hypnobabies which is better than hypnobirthing (lol) -no, really it is a great class it's a lot of time put in (6 weeks, 3 hr classes + homework) but it has mentally prepared me a TON. I have vasovagul and low blood pressure normally which basically make me pass out when i even TALK about medical situations.
I had a friend that did this before me and hearing her birth story is amazing & comforting.

Hypnobirthing
just before 30-- but we had a week break after christmas and an unexpected week break last week. so i am finishing just before 37. originally i had wanted to start around 26 but the timing didnt work out. this is actually really good the timing worked out so in the first 3 classes we got the hypno down and the last 3 classes we did more birthing-prep.

Sounds awesome but its a little different from what I was envisioning. The class I was looking into is 5 weeks, 2 1/2 hours each class and some HW (i think). I'm not using a midwife and I plan on delivering at LIJ so I can't really use a tub or anything. I just pretty much wanted to go in there relaxed and as mentally prepared as possible.

I'd be starting around 30 weeks too.
I was told they ideally would like you to start somewhere around 20 weeks so you have the most time to practice, but you can pretty much do whatever.

the site probably has a more extreme cases. I am using a regular OB/GYN (who happens to be a little more new school and relaxed but has NOT had experience with hypnobabies) and delivering at Stonybrook. Waterbirths are NOT for me either. it's totally about the relaxation for me too. we have watched videos in class and some are home births, some are home births with water, some are hospital births. all look equally as calm :)
