Central Air?
Any idea what the price is for installation... We currently have wall units and getting new siding done so I'm thinking we should look into it now - can you give me an idea what it will cost - have a a ranch home with. Forced air.
Can you recommend a place?
TIA

We have a colonial and used the duct work that was already in place. Cost was $6-$7k two years ago.

"They" say it's ideal to put in new ones the are higher up but we did not do that - we used the ones already in place near the floor to save $$. Our house definitely gets cooled with no problems. Not sure how much of a difference higher vents would have made but I don't regret our decision.

Re: Central Air?
Have you looked into a ductless AC system? Much less expensive than traditional central AC. I have it in my family room and it's great.

Google is your friend, but basically it has a unit outside and a panel in 1 room that shoots the air. if you're doing just 1 space, it can be cheaper, but if you're trying to get many rooms cool, you essentially now need a blower in each room which I doubt would be cheap IMHO, if you have ductwork, I'd go central air. any AC company can do either, so you can discuss your options with them

Re: Central Air?
we had to replace our unit over the summer when it died. this was just to replace the compressor and air handler, we already had existing ductwork. Cost 7200 or 7500 I forgot the number but we did get 1k back from PSEG
