12 weeks. Hope to work from home a few days a week for the first few weeks to ease the transition.

how long will you be on maternity leave?
Prob 12 weeks. I'm due end of July and im a teacher so I get some extra time before September comes around. I only have enough sick days for like 3 weeks paid so the other 9 will be unpaid unless I go back sooner

Probably 12 weeks max.
We do not get any paid leave. I get only 2 weeks vacation and up to 5 sick days. We don't accrue or carry over any time
I believe they do state disability (people have gone out sick). I don't want to ask too many questions just yet because I do not plan on saying anything until at least after my first appointment and I don't want to raise any flags.
I'm hoping I can talk them into letting me work from home P/T or something. No one really does, and the last baby born to my knowledge was 23 years ago.

I'm so jealous of most of you! I got 5 weeks before I had to go back. I only got paid bc they made an error and just let it go. I had to forfeit all of my sick and vacation time though. My job is too small for FMLA.
Maternity Leave in this country is a joke. STD is a joke... $170/week max? Who can live on that???

I hear you. I work for a smaller firm as well. They will let me take as much time as I want (within reason) but it will all be unpaid. Or I can exhaust my 4 weeks vacation and then work from home for whatever it is 2-4 weeks. I did that last time and it was fine. My preference is to get paid my full salary. And I didn't find working from home to be all that taxing or inconveniencing. It was more that I had to make the time to do it.
Do all of you who get to take the 12 weeks have full paid leave?

I will have 8-10 weeks paid depending on delivery which includes 2 weeks of vacation that I fought to include in my leave. I qualify for 12 weeks unpaid total, but can't afford to take any unpaid leave.

im a teacher.
there is no paid maternity leave, opposed to what a lot of people assume.
I'm taking fmla, max 12 weeks, not sure if I'm taking the full 12 bc i only get paid for the amount of sick days i have. since this is my second kid my sick days are minimal.
I'm lucky that i am due in may so the summer lines up with my leave.

Didn't they at least have to give you 6/8 weeks disability?? Most docs won't sign off on return to work earlier than that!

I never even filed for disability. I didn't know how it worked if I was getting paid through work.

Well my job sold in October. It was supposed to sell to me, but that is a long story. So I have no job to go back to. The new owner wants to higher me, but as I am pretty sure he will be shut down by the Health Dept, because I've seen his businesses, I want no part of it.
So since October I have been working for my dad 2-3 times a week. It's flexible anyhow, so I will probably go back to working there 1-2 days a week after about 6 weeks,if my mom can watch the baby. I would go longer but I am honestly afraid what will happen to my nice, organized system if I leave it up to my Uncle.
I won't look for another full time job until probably mid summer. First we have to decide if I will be looking in CT or NY, since DH's job is in CT. But how long I go before looking depends on how long we can go on with me only bringing in a small amount a week.

with the twins 14 weeks. it was really great and then i went back as part time for a couple of months which helped ease the transition.
i have no idea what im doing for this one, prob the same at least.

I get 6 or 8 but hoping to just take 4 this time. I took 12 with the twins. I work from home though. I only get measly disability so ill take that for 2 weeks then 2 weeks vaca.

I'm taking a year, mostly unpaid, which is scary. We are saving like crazy.
It's just...after 5 years of misery to get here, I absolutely will not put my infant down to go grade papers.
