I think no- unless he's tall. My boys are 5 and 8 and I still plan on waiting a couple of years.

Re: Best age for Universal Studios
I took my kids aged (3, 7, and 9) this summer for the first time. We loved it. Check out what they really have as far as superheros for his age and size. I think quite a few have a higher height requirements. I personally don't even remember the superhero section that much (I have 2 boys but they are past superhero stage). I know we met spiderman and did one spinning ride all together (I think even 3 year old). I know we did the spiderman simulator ride (that is 40-42 inches). Kids were scared of Hulk coaster (husband rode it and 7 year old was too short anyway) and there was another bigger ride that DH and my older son rode (52" so my 7 year old didn't make it). But that's all I even remember. I wouldn't go there just for superheros. I think Great Adventure had just has much when we went years ago or even more! lol
I think if your kid is under 42 inches, it isn't as great for them especially if they like rides. My daughter was 3 and I spent a lot of time in activity areas with her (climbing parks and such). We had just went to Disney before going to universal where she rode tons of rides and when we went there it was a little hard for her to not be able to go on many rides. She went on some but not many...more play areas. Granted she had fun but at times got upset she couldn't ride the rides. She really enjoyed seeing the characters there (dora, spongebob, cat in the hat, etc).

Definitely check out the height requirements for the rides. My 5 year old would love it as well but, he's too small for many of the rides (he's on the smaller side).

Yes, 5 is a good age. My DD is 6, not tall for her age, and we were just there in November and she went on a lot of rides!! She had a great time!!

Re: Best age for Universal Studios
I just came back on Sunday with my four year old daughter. She had a blast! We went on The flight of the Hippogriff coaster in Hogsmeade, The Minions ride, Shrek 4D, the Woody Woodpecker coaster. We took her on Men in Black but it was a lot of spinning. She also went on Spiderman, but we probably shouldn't have. She was on the edge with that one. She also took pics with a lot of characters. We spent two days there and (as you can tell) I recommend! They also have a cute Animal Show and a Curious George play area with water and ball cannons. Warning - the dragon in Diagon Alley had kids crying all over the place.
