dr Z--but need a 2nd opinion
I just turned 39 and had my 3 rd failed ivf yesterday. Love my dr Zapantis !!! But my sister keeps harping that I should get another opinion and perhaps a different protocol.
Any advice on who ? I'm at an time low and can't snap out of it :(

Re: dr Z--but need a 2nd opinion
I like to look at success rates & number of cycles done by a group. Most data that is published is from 2012. Data can be sorted by age. Google "IVF success rates"
I'd go with a big place that does thousands a year in your age group and has high success rates (less likely that they weeded our patients who are less likely to get pregnant).
Those places (in alphabetical order) are: Cornell NYU RMA
I know many personal stories from RMA & Cornell. Successes after being unsuccessful (and some traveling internationally for IVF).
It's tough to leave someone, but I'd try something new.

Have you spoken to him regarding possibly changing your protocol? When I was at North Shore I had several failed fresh and frozen cycles and they refused to change my protocol. I then switched to RS of NY and they put me on a different protocol and had success (18 month old and currently 15 weeks tomorrow).

I have heard great things about Dr. T at SIRM from ladies on this board. Good luck!

Re: dr Z--but need a 2nd opinion
In cases of AMA and DOR, I'm a big advocate of lab, lab, LAB. I flew all the way out to Colorado for a superlab, but SIRM's is pretty good and RMA New Jersey's is even better. Many women really underestimate the importance of this, especially when egg quality is a factor.
I also will tell you that I never would have been successful, regardless of lab, if I hadn't done the FET. In my 1st 4 cycles, I never made enough good embryos for an FET after a fresh transfer, so I never would have know without a little trial and error with the transfer protocol itself. Have your transfers been fresh?
I definitely think it's worthwhile to explore what other docs have to say, but go somewhere with a rep for solving tough cases.

What I did was bring all records to Dr that you wanted to see for 2nd opinion. Ask there thoughts?? What protocol would they use? For me, they said same thing as Dr. Z was already doing........so we stayed.

dr Z--but need a 2nd opinion
Hey Some dr are not out of the box and I had the same issue as you and my old dr was not out of the box . Basically if I was going to do another cycle there he was going to do the same protocol and for me I was not taking that chance . I never went to Dr z but from what I heard of him he is good if you are a basic ivf patient that is straight forward . There are supplements you could take and other drugs or combos that can work better . I left practices and my protocol could not have been more different and it worked . What I realized from Myself and friends going though this is some Dr treat infertilitu and ivf as a whole and some treat patients and Taylor their protocol specifically for their exact needs . That is the kind of dr you need to find .

Please get a second opinion. I regret not doing this sooner.
I went to Dr. Zapatis for over a year. I LOVED him too. He is a really nice guy and cares. I did 6 IUIs, 2 IVFs, and a FET. Non resulted in a baby. I asked tons of questions and got many tests done. He just didn't think outside the box enough for me. So I made an appointment with Dr. T at SIRM. He did immune testing on me. An issue was found. I was successful on my first IVF there. I wish I had went for a second opinion sooner. FM me with any questions. GL

dr Z--but need a 2nd opinion
Was with dr. z at old place. He's gotten me pregnant almost every cycle. He's done many different protocols with me and is extremely opened to any other protocols. I have been to almost every clinic in NY and ended up in NJ because stats according to SART are much higher. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the RE. I really think it's all about the labs. I ended up using DE and was successful. I'm trying to decide on

I've heard mixed things about the place but would trust him for a second opinion. He's not a fan of Dr. Z so if you do go keep that in mind. Not sure why but he's not. Good luck!
