More Maui Questions
I DO apologize if I'm a broken record......I have had a very difficult few months and now can move on from that difficulty.
So.
I have made reservations at the Marriott vacation club-Marriott's Maui Ocean Club. The 8 days will ABOUT 3k or so for the hotel.
I am looking online and it looks like the hotel prices are dropping. I can get a partial ocaean view at the Hyatt for less than the Mariott.
My question is 2 fold: If you could stay at any hotel in Maui (Kappalani area) where would you and why
AND/OR
Where HAVE you stayed and why would you recommend it?

Re: More Maui Questions
Things to consider: - How important are timeshare amenities vs. hotel amenities to you? (kitchen and living room vs. hotel room with a couch, etc. and will you have a car to be able to buy groceries to make use of the kitchen?) - What are the cancellation policies at both? Can you reserve now and cancel with no fee, later? - How do the fees and included things compare? (resort fee, club lounge access, free breakfast, parking fees, etc.)

We stayed at the Westin and loved it.
But, I agree with ihilani - there are other things to look at as well.

Re: More Maui Questions
We've stayed at they Hyatt Regency 5 times. Obviously, we like it and would recommend it. The pool area is great - the beach is small. However, all beaches in Hawaii are public, and it's no big deal to walk down the beach a bit to get a nicer spot.
We always get a club level room. Keep in mind the resort fee is now $30 a day and self-parking is $16 a day. Valet parking is $20. We've always found the service there impeccable.
The last time we were there was in October of 2014. They were just completing work on the timeshare portion of the resort they built next door. I don't know if that being open impacts the main part of the hotel.
