Thank you. I do hear you, and respect all opinions. The studs they have now are the tiniest things though, have you seen them? They really would barely leave a mark even if it didn't close. She doesn't play sports or anything, so I'm not as concerned with the injury.
I know what you're talking about, they are very cute and so tiny. I would be careful with those. I don't know how it works for a nose piercing but I had one in an ear piercing and it is practically even smaller than the piercing itself lol. I woke up one morning and the whole little stud actually had gone through the piercing itself and was dangling on the other side (and stuck by dried up blood - sorry tmi.)

Would you let your 15 year old...
No, to me body piercings with the exceptions of earrings are trends and they will be regretted one day, like the people who tattooed Tweety Bird on their bodies when they were in college

All of you who say you're husbands are against it, did your husband have his ear pierced in high school?
And what if your son wanted his ear pierced (because boys still do this, a lot)? Would you/he be against that too?
All of you who say you're husbands are against it, did your husband have his ear pierced in high school? No he didn't. No piercings or tattoos now either.
And what if your son wanted his ear pierced (because boys still do this, a lot)? Would you/he be against that too? At 15 yes, at 18 he would be upset about it but wouldn't say no.

EVERY nose stud I've ever seen (the first one I saw was in college, so 20ish years ago...) always looks like a zit. That's just what I see, even when I know what it is.

Re: Would you let your 15 year old...
Not sure if this will help but at 16 I wanted this done and knew my parents would say no.... So I went into the city with friends on my 17th birthday and had it done. My parents were pisssed... but at that point it was done. I, however got over it quickly and took it out a few months later.. I don't have any scar or mark from it at all.
Back then I made my future self promise to be more open to letting my kids expressing themselves. Piercings for the most part are temporary and can be taken out and closed up. By the time I was 18 I had a bunch of things pierced... all long gone and the only scar I have is from my belly button ring. I wouldn't be ok with it at 15 but if they still felt the same way at 16 I would let them do it. DH would be horrified... he can't stand stuff like that and would want to kill me, but I'll cross that bridge if we ever get there.

Re: Would you let your 15 year old...
I would. I was a pretty good kid too and when I was 13, I got a total of 7 ear piercings. I had 4 in one ear and 3 in the other. I begged my parents and they finally let me. My mom was raised in a super strict house and was very rebellious and did a lot of bad things, sneaking around, etc. She vowed she would never be that way. She was always very open with my sister and I.
My piercings didn't scar me (I now only have one in each ear). I continued to be a good kid and all my friends were jealous and wished my mom was theirs.
If I were you, I'd let her do it. She can always take it out (which she probably will one day).

No. Not a decision a 15 year old is mature enough to make, in my opinion.

No. I got one at 18. Only had it in for a few years, and it left a mark. Definitely regretting it a little bit today.

Re: Would you let your 15 year old...
Yes
I have a teen and know I am always in the minority on this board as most people don't so I am in the position of going through all of this now.
You can take it out and the only thing I don't think kids should get (before they are in their 20's and have an idea what they want to do with their life) is a tattoo. That is permanent. Everything else is not.

in the end, after everyone's opinion, the choice is between you, your husband and daughter and what you feel is right for your family.

Re: Would you let your 15 year old...
No.
A friend of mine had gotten a small one while we were in college. She had a small stud--teeny tiny.
As an adult she totally regrets it. She holds a corporate position and hates that you can see the hole still.
If she wants it as an adult let her make her own mistake but as a minor I would not allow it.

Re: Would you let your 15 year old...
Nope, not a chance, I'm way too strict & old school to allow that. You want to do that as an adult, that's your choice... but not in high school when I'd be paying for it. Also I find them ugly & gross & pointless, which is just my opinion.
