Don't give up - my 4 years in the making child is here!
Some of you know my story, some don't.
I got married in 2009. At the time I had a small fibroid that my OB said would not be an issue getting pregnant with. My DH and I did not live together before marriage so we decided to wait a year and then start trying.
After my honeymoon I switched BC pills because I was getting staining on my lips from the pill I was on. My idiot OB put me on a high estrogen pill. My fibroid starting growing so rapidly I was in to much pain to even go to work. But my OB said it wasn't OB related and sent me to a gastro. After a colonoscopy, tons of tests, a false diagnosis of irritable bowel, and a 30lb weight gain, we eventually discovered my 3cm fibroid had reached 7cm. My OB told me it had to come out.
No longer trusting her I got a second opinion, who suggested trying first. Now totally confused I seeked the advice of an RE, Dr. Cohen at North Shore, who said that 7cm was a grey area, suggested I try 6 months and if I didn't get pregnant he would remove it. So DH and I started trying and I got pregnant the third month, but miscarried a week later while in France for a wedding. After that nothing.
So in Sept 2012 I had my fibroid removed via a myomectomy at North Shore. They cut you open like a c-section then cut out the fibroid. By that time it had become the size of a grapefruit measuring at 12cm x 9cm x 8cm. But Dr. Cohen did a fabulous job on the surgery.
After 4 months we were clear to start trying again, but 6 months later and still nothing. We were about to start IUIs when overnight I lost my hearing in my right ear and started getting bad vertigo. Eventually I was diagnosed with Sudden Sensory Hearing Loss, basically a virus attacked my ear overnight and some of the loss is permanent. I underwent Physical Therapy for the vertigo and about 3 months later I was cleared to start trying again.
4 failed IUIs later and we found ourselves faced with IVF. I also had to undergo a D&C as it appeared that scar tissue had formed from the fibroid surgery and may have been preventing implantation. IVF round 1 failed.
But finally, almost exactly 4 years to the day from my Paris miscarriage, my FET cycle worked and one of 2 embryos took.
I'd miscarried a few more times (twice with
IUIs) so I spent the first few weeks panicked every time I had a cramp or loose poop (all my miscarriages came with diarrea first) that was the end. But we made it through.
On March 21 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Taylor
Lea. I was a very long road but she is well worth the wait.
Please don't give up. Taylor is proof that it can happen.

Yes I actually didn't even go back to an OB until I was pregnant and just relied on my RE. But after being pregnant I found Dr. Berlin and I LOVE him. Except I was his second to last delivery.

Thank you all for your kind words.
I hope my story inspired some of you to keep going, because I can't tell you how many times I was ready to give up. I keep saying to my mom… "I really thought this day would never come, but here she is." I am still in disbelief.
Hang in there everyone. I know how hard it is too when people say, when are you going to have kids, and you have to blow it off and say, "were thinking soon", or "we aren't sure." By the end I started telling people "we've been trying for years" just to shut them up. Although that ended up in me having to tell more people I was pregnant before the 12 week period.
