Re: Breathable Bumper vs. Nothing?

We do nothing, I found it so annoying to put the bumper back on after changing the sheets, so I just ditched it! All three kids did fine without any bumper.

I used the breathable bumpers. When DD was about 6 months old she started sticking her foot out one of the spindles on the crib and would wake up crying because she couldn't get it back in.
Obviously I don't have that problem anymore now that we have them on.

If you get a cute bedding set - dont use the regular bumper, NOT worth the risk...for what?

However, so it didnt go to waste, I used it as a crib skirt instead and attached it under the mattress to the bottom of the frame where the mattress sits, SO cute!

I used regular bumpers with DD

I got the matching regular crib bumper with my bedding for a shower present but have read numerous articles that say regular bumpers are an absolute no no due to the possible risk of suffocation/smothering. Most say that if you want to use the regular bumpers, you should only put them into the crib when the baby can control their own head/neck, so that if they did put there face into, they could pull themselves way from it to gain oxygen.

I really thought this was safety overkill until my angel care monitor went off one night when DS was 3 weeks old. He had managed to scooch himself over and his face was firmly planted in that bumper. If was so scary.

I used the breathable bumper because he loved sleeping with his face pressed up against the side. I didn't want his face on the wood of the crib. The breathable bumper was great.

Yes, I would not use them for a baby that young. I think we used them when dd was 6 months. Good thing you had those monitors Chat Icon Chat Icon

breathable...

yeah it can help keep binky's in... and whenever it slides down if I don't put it up, then one day my baby throws their arm or leg out the side.
