Best place for picture matting and framing?
Is Michaels the best for pricing? Do I need a coupon or are there other places that I should look? I am in RVC. Thanks!

I recently went to Pictures Plus on Long Beach Road, they have been there forever and have really good prices

Michaels is not the best place. I used to work there and they outsource their framing and triple whatever price they get. I would look into a local framer.

I had no problem with Michalel's on hempstead tpk. I believed they framed it there.

Michaels is expensive even with a coupon. I would just look for a local guy. They are usually cheaper and do great jobs.

Best place for picture matting and framing?
It's pricey everywhere, not sure what michaels outsources meant. They do all framing in house the frames get sent to them. If your going to a smaller frame place make sure everything's preservation and matts are acid free - it's not worth getting it cheaper if in 3 years your matts look like trash cause they faded, it's definately worth spending the money on the glare free glass wherever you go

Michaels does not do all framing in house. I worked there.

I much prefer AC Moore over Michaels for everything, including framing. They also send out, but they're cheaper and have always done a great job. I admit though, I've never really thought about going to a privately owned store (or knew where one was).

That's not 100% right! I know for a fact that Westbury and Massapequa do everything in shop. By everything I am saying artist tree (the company that cuts the moldings) sends them the frames and they put the artwork in them. Artwork does not leave the building.

I've had things done at both michaels and abco. I feel like at abco, you are working more with artists who will really help you envision what you want, get really creative, and they have tons of materials. At michaels, it's more standard (here's your choice of frames, here's your choice of mats). Both are fine - depends what the piece is you are framing.
