Soon to be new homeowner...help me please
We are closing on Thursday!! So excited but what do we need to do about electricity, oil, water, etc? Should I call now..and if so who do I call? Thanks I'm totally clueless

Yes, call now and have your accounts set up. They'll ask you for the turn on date and just tell them the closing date. You'll need for your electric and water to all be working for your final walk through right before you close.
You'll need to find out who the electric and water providers are for the house. Cable/internet is your choice based on whoever provides service to your area.

You need two days they told me to cancel for a final reading from where you are now and you want someone to make sure there is a true reading for where you ware going to be living.

Congrats!!!! The lawyer's office set up the water for us and we had to call the day before we closed to transfer the electric and gas.
If the oil tank is relatively full you might not need a delivery for a bit.

And some owners will get a final reading for the oil tank and ask for the left over amount for the oil at closing... They tried this with us, but we closed during the storm in January so they cancelled on them and ate the cost.
