Egg smell in house
Our house smells like rotten eggs. Our air has been on a few weeks. We changed the filters. Any ideas? And there is no rotten food in house, we just went away and everything is fresh

Egg smell in house
Do you have a sump pump? When ours died, the house smelled like rotten eggs.

Re: Egg smell in house
It can be a sign of a gas leak. Call your gas company to have it checked immediately. It is quite dangerous. Please wait outside for them.

Egg smell in house
Call gas company immediately. May be a gas leak In the street seeping in through the foundation. We had one this past winter. Our house didn't smell but neighbors did. Could've been very serious had they not addressed it.

Re: Egg smell in house
We had that smell in our old house. It turned out to be a sewage line in the basement that wasn't capped off.

Do you have a cesspool? The rotten eggs smell is usually the first sign of a clog or cesspool problem.

Re: Egg smell in house
Also check all your outlets.
We had an egg smell off and on in our playroom for months. We didn't have gas- all electric.
Turns out it was a faulty outlet.

Egg smell in house
What was the outcome? If you have an older stove the pilot light could have gone out - no need to have used the stove recently. There could be a leak somewhere (inside or out of the house) If you don't have a cesspool there could be a crack in the waste line but that would be more of a poo smell then rotten eggs.

I just heard a commercial last week asking, "If you smelled rotten eggs, would you know to call 9-1-1 (or the gas company or something like that...)"
I hope everything is okay! Please update!!
