Wood floor color
So finally are getting our wood floors sanded and stained.... I am having trouble picking a color. I don't want super light and don't want super dark lol! Anyone feel like posting a picture of theirs?? I hate making decisions and it's hard to see what they will look like with these small samples I picked up Thanks

Re: Wood floor color
Hi there
We have red oak wood floors and stained them a red chestnut color- minwax
Once I gave the go-ahead I was terrified that our house wood look like kool aid but I absolutely love it. It's a warm rich color - gotten a few compliments
I can't post pics from my phone but I can email them to you if you want!
Your best bet would be though, to get a sample of the wood that your floors are and go to Home Depot and ask for some different stains. Each kind of wood takes stain differently , so for example my Red Chestnut would look different on a pine wood floor than a red oak floor
Good luck!

Re: Wood floor color
We have special walnut and love it. Warm without being reddish, and a perfect medium tone.

Re: Wood floor color
If you haven't already selected something, I would recommend a medium colored floor that has some variety of tones in it for a few reasons:
1) It can hide a multitude of sins: think pet hair, dirt, scratches etc.
2) It's casual and not too trendy: chances are years from now you'll still be satisfied with its' finish.
3) plays well with others: with a variety of tones and a not-too-dark finish, it can work with just about anything you put in the space
Tip: Look at the existing finishes in your home and try to find a sample that coordinates with what's already in the space (think other furniture, paint colors, brick, molding, etc.) rather than matching perfectly. For example if most of the finishes and colors in your house are on the warm side, pick a wood that has those variations or undertones. Doing so gives you a lot more wiggle room when decorating the rest of the space.
Best of luck! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Wood floor color
Mine is an oak color.... I would avoid dark wood though because it picks up a lot of dust
