Add this to your hospital bag list:
Statement of treatment letter
Before you leave the hospital, go to the medical records room and ask for a statement of treatment letter. It includes your name, dad's name, baby's name and dates that you were in the hospital, date baby was born etc
It's not necessary but you can send that letter to your insurance company immediately so that you can add munchkin on for coverage. . Birth certificates take almost a month and some insurances only give you a 30 day window to add a child
And when you do get the birth certificate , then fax a copy of that too

I just had to send in my hospital statement and then the birth certificate whenever I received it.

I can't believe the hoops your insurance made you go through!! I made Brian verify in writing from his new company what they need when baby boy arrives because I saw what you were going through.

Sigh - the government always has hoops lol. At least it was super easy once I got there
