If you had gestational diabetes with #1
Did you have it with #2? If not, did you do anything to prevent it (follow GD diet etc)? If you followed your previous GD diet, what week did you start?

If you had gestational diabetes with #1
I technically have it again with #2. I call bs because I took the 2 hour, got the results, was told I passed and then the NP left the room for a few, came back and said, oh whoops, the dr now only accepts a fasting number of 92 as passing and not a 95. I got a 94 but passed the 1 and 2 hour draws with flying colors. So yeah.
I didn't do anything differently because if you have it, you have it and what you eat before will not prevent you from passing or failing. I had my a1c tested during my prenatal bloodwork and it came back in normal range so if I do have it, it's something that developed during pregnancy and not as a result of what I was eating.

Re: If you had gestational diabetes with #1
I had it with both of my kids, it was worse to manage with my first though. I didn't have it as bad with my second.

Re: If you had gestational diabetes with #1
I had with DD1, did not have it with DD2.
ETA did nothing to "prevent it" - I was eating like total crap because i had awful nausea and horrific heartburn. I was actually shocked that I didn't have it again.

Re: If you had gestational diabetes with #1
I had it twice and both times it was easily controlled with diet.

I had with #1 but so far have passed the early test with #2. I go back next week for a re-check.

Re: If you had gestational diabetes with #1
Following I am curious too!
Also for those that had the testing done 2nd time, did they start with the 1 hour or go right to the 3 hour?

Depends on the doctor.
I see high risk MFM's. In the time between pregnancies (less than a year) they changed what they do as far as testing for GD goes.
They no longer do a 2 step test (1hr and then 3hr if you fail the 1hr). They do a 1 step test (2hr) so you have one shot to pass or fail. Also, they changed the number required to pass the fasting portion. Most doctors will accept 95 or below as passing. Mine will not accept anything over 92 now, which, sucks for me since I got a 94 but passed the 1 and 2 hour draws with flying colors.
ETA: They also tested my A1C early in this pregnancy to see if I became diabetic since having GD w/ #1, which I passed. I was then able to wait til 24w to take the 2 hr.

Re: If you had gestational diabetes with #1
Had it with 1 and wound up on insulin twice a day. Currently Preggo with number two and it's worse than ever- at 17 weeks already on insulin twic e a day. I'm seeing high risk and doing an echo at 22 weeks. Im not the norm by any stretch. Most seem to be controlled with diet from what I have seen.. Always feel free to pm me with questions

If you had gestational diabetes with #1
Had it with all 3, managed by diet
ETA: I didn't do anything specific pre-test. Started the GD diet around 24-25 weeks with pregnancy #2 & 3.
