Laptop - lifespan
How long have you had your current laptop?
What condition is it in?
How must use does it get?
What brand is it?
I have a macbook and its 8 years old...still works fine except for the usual "start up disk is full" that I get from time to time...i took it to a local computer shop this morning as it needed a new charger and the guy was shocked that its still working...he said that all laptops seem to have a 3-4 year lifespan these days.

Re: Laptop - lifespan
I think it depends what you use it for.
My work laptop, I use every day, I beat on it and use it to death. they usually last like 2-3 years before something big goes and they have to send me a new one.
We use HP Elitebooks

Laptop - lifespan
My Macbook Pro is 4 years old and still works fine. Hubby has had problems with his since the beginning and it's newer. My last PC only survived 1 year before the motherboard died.

Laptop - lifespan
I have a 2008 macbook that still works wonderfully for household purposes. If I were to start needing to use my macbook for work, I would have to replace it. DH's macbook pro is 2010 and works great.
I used to go through Dell laptops annually.

Laptop - lifespan
Ive had my dell for about 7 years and i use it frequently for work. I also had a macbook air which i replaced after 3 years of use. Turns out, in order to expand my storage, i needed to get an external drive (instead of just upgrading my storage space). I personally prefer PC to Mac.

Re: Laptop - lifespan
I purchased a new HP laptop in May; PRior to that I had a Dell Inspiron for about 4 yrs. It still works and I set it up for DS to use for his abc mouse and such. IT was running rather slow though so Im sure it will probably die at some point.
I use it for desktop publishing/stationery business mainly so I run some large programs.
I think 2-3 yrs is average for laptops. Everything is disposable these days.

Re: Laptop - lifespan
I notice my apple laptops start to lose it by like 6 years, but I keep them at least 6 years. Usually by year 8, I upgrade if I can.

Laptop - lifespan
i've had my air for well over 5 years and use it for school/work/household/tv/music/everything/constantly. i've dropped it on all sorts of things over a dozen times, and the only thing that's wrong with it is that the battery dies quicker these days.

I have a dell vostros that I got in 2008. I use it for personal and business use. Recently the battery stopped taking a charge. I thought it was done but I took a shot and ordered a refurbished battery and charging cord on Amazon for $20 and it's perfect again. I also have a MacBook Air but I like PCs so much better!

My HP is on it's last legs. We have had it about 6 years. We used it almost daily, but didn't travel with it too much (it's a 17 inch.)

Dell. 8 years old. I don't use it much because it needs to be plugged in (or battery replaced, lol) it's low on space, and it's easier to use my phone or ipad. I use it for saving and editing pictures. Have been wanting to get a new one for a while.
