Getting back on track

I feel like we've been spending money like crazy this year.

And I admit, most of it was on things we don't need.

Determined to get back on track though.

I'm planning to pay our credit card off by the end of the month.

Keep some $$ in an emergency savings.

Anyone else get off track big time this year?

Getting back on track

Month of June was a nightmare for us.... 3 car repairs totaling $1300 and another $800 on stuff we shouldn't have spent money on... Made me so angry. We have 2 months left on our lease and either need to find a house before then or extend the lease- need to cut back a ton!!

Re: Getting back on track

not the whole year, but certain months I feel completely off track.

summer seems especially hard!

most of it is my fault. when work gets stressful, i go out to lunch and spend money on food even when i bring something from home.

planning on getting back on track come august. will be paying off one of our loans in august as well. so excited to have that off our plate!

2 more loans and a cc and we will be debt free!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Getting back on track

Yes, eating and ordering out has been a huge downfall lately.

I also think I need to go cold turkey on my daily coffee or drink run.

It's a simple pleasure, but at $15-$20 a week, that adds up!!

I did recently apply for student loan forgiveness since I work at a non-profit and we are trying to get a HARP loan for our mortgage so hopefully these things will go through.

Also decided to re-do my tax status. We always owe anyway and DH sets money aside for that.....might as well bring home more in my paycheck and put it into savings!

I applied for loan forgiveness but it takes 10 years of paying it off before it kicks in

Yes....our tax bill this year was much higher than previous years and we bought our house. We definitely were not expecting the tax bill. DH just got a new job that pays more so we are working out a schedule to pay down our credit cards and we've stopped eating out for lunch during the week (my fault) to help save.

Yes, I knew that.

But I've been paying that long already and it never seems to freakin' go down. Might as well try to wipe the slate clean by the time I'm ready to retire, if I can.

Private school and not waiting for my job to pay for it = dumbest financial mistake ever.

Will need to check it out. I'm on there for a couple of other subjects I enjoy and overall, people are welcoming and want to help.
