For those who started TTC with a big gap between children
DS is 6 years old (and conceived with my ExH). DH and I are starting to TTC now and I'm finding myself VERY scared that it wont happen easily. I'm using an ovulation kit - tested this morning on cycle day 10 with a BFN. I'm guessing it's still too early and I probably wont ovulate for another few days. But I'm terrified that even with the ovulation kit and knowing the timing is right, it might not happen easily this time. I was 24 and fertile myrtle the first time around...got pregnant within the 2nd month of trying (and the only reason it didn't happen in the first month is because I ovulated later than usual). This time I'm worried that we're both older, I've been on BC since I was 17 years old, and for some reason DH is always worried that maybe his swimmers wont perform It's probably an irrational fear and we're just stressing ourselves out, but I see how hard it is for some of our friends and I'm definitely worried that could happen to us too.
Everyone keeps telling me that we'll have no problem since I got pregnant so quickly with DS, but I feel like its different every pregnancy and you just never know. Anyone else having these feelings?

My age gap is less, DS is 3 and we just started TTC. But I have the same fears. We're 4 years older now than when I got pregnant the last time. And it was very easy for us with DS, we only tried for 2 cycles. So now I feel like there's no way we'll be that lucky a 2nd time around. But who knows. I try not to stress but it's easier said than done. Hang in there and try not to upset yourself when you don't know how it will go yet. GL!

My DD is turning 5 and have been TTC on and off (mostly on) for over 2 years. Saw a RE for a bit but don't like how I was treated and decided to make a lifestyle change and lose weight so I can conceive naturally. I am turning 34 soon so I need to move it along to. Its only normal to feel like that. Good Luck!

Yes! DS will be 6 in Oct and I'm feeling this way. We started TTCing 2 years ago so my hopes are getting smaller & smaller of us ever having another. I'm approaching 39 next month and I feel like it's just never going to happen. Lots of prayers and baby dust for you!

The bottom line is you won't know until you start trying. We needed IVF to get pregnant with DD so it was no surprise when we found out we still needed to do IVF for #2. I will say this..for DD I got pregnant with my first IVF barring a few bumps along the way had an uneventful pregnancy and birth not so much the second time around.
We started officially TTC with an RE when DD was 5. I had one surprise BFP before my schedule IVF that ended in a MC. We did IVF and I ended up having two miscarriages from my cycles. One MC from my fresh transfer and one MC from my FET. I was devastated. Took more time off to regroup and let my body heal. I focused on other things that were also as important. We decided recently we were ready to jump back, did another IVF cycle and got a BFP that looks like a sticky baby.
You just never know. FWIW my friend was 36 when she started trying and she got pregnant her first month of TTC. She had the easiest time getting pregnant and in her pregnancy then any of us who had our kids in our late 20s so age is not everything either.
I would try not to stress out unless you know for sure that you have something to worry about
