Kindergarten Snack Question
this may be a dumb question, but...do you send snack in a separate "bag"...like, not in the lunch bag??
My concern putting it in DD's lunch is that she'll eat it during lunch and not save it for snack?

Yes. Separate brown bag for snack (with his name) and latchkey snack

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
Our lunch boxes had 2 compartments. I would put the snack in the bottom compartment and the lunch in the large part of the bag

Kindergarten Snack Question
I stick her snack in the front pocket of her school bag this way she doesn't have to worry about taking lunch box.

Kindergarten Snack Question
Depended on which lunchbox we sent: * Planetbox has it's own bag so the food went into the metal container and his snacks were in the pockets on the outside of the bag * We had another set up that had a container just for his lunch and an extra bag that contained his snacks (we had to send 2 snacks).
That way they were completely separate from his lunch.

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
Separate bags. In both my kids schools that is how it is requested. You are told not to send it in the same bag.

Same. Lunch boxes go into a bin when they unpack their backpacks to be sent down to cafeteria so snacks have to be in separate bag.

Not a dumb question at all. I wondered the same thing last year! We were instructed to send it in a different bag other than their lunch bag.

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
As a kindergarten teacher, I strongly suggest snack be kept separate from lunch

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
I bought my DD a lunch box that had two separate compartments. I just explained to her that the main part was her lunch and the little part was her snack for later in the day. She never had any problems with eating her snack at lunch, she knew to not open that compartment until the teacher said it was snack time.

Question- I assumed that they had a morning snack and then lunch.
Do they eat their snacks in the morning or the afternoon?

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
I think every school is different, but I'm pretty sure the trend is to give Kindergartens the earliest lunch/recess period (usually 11:00 something)then they have snack in the afternoon. My DD has lunch at 11:30 and snack at 1:30.

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
My school requests separate snack from lunch. Two separate drinks. Our school has an option though to purchase either water or milk for snack, lunch or both.
Snack is in the morning at our school.

I was so surprised at my dd school she doesn't each lunch until 12:50. I think is late. Snack is between 10:00-10:30 depending on the day.

Our school is in the afternoon - they start at 9 and kindergarten has lunch at 11am.

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
Our snack must be "garbage less." So I send in a thermos and tupperware-like container in the side compartment of his backpack.

Re: Kindergarten Snack Question
I know this is old... But I found it funny when I sent 3 seperate bags (lunch labeled) & my DS ate his lunch for snack! He downed an adult sized sandwich in 10 minutes!!!

He keeps his water thermos in the classroom for throughout the day and snack time. I give him either a juice pouch, chocolate milk box, or disposable small water bottle with lunch.
