talk to me about prenatal massages
What (in detail) could I expect from that if I should choose to do it??
I was given a 60 min gift certificate from the moms I babysit for last Christmas, but I HATE massages so I just kind of put aside and forgot about it. I have this thing about strangers touching me. No good. It expires in December (when I'm due) and I just called today to see if I could let my husband use it instead. He works hard and could use a massage. They said it's fine, but the hours she's available are ridiculous and like only afternoons on weekdays. Don't most of their customers work?!? So she mentioned that the masseuse is licensed in prenatal massage should I choose to use it for myself. I'd hate it to go to waste (I might still see if I have any friends who would like it first though), but if I DID decide to go ahead, what could I expect? What are they actually doing/touching. What am I doing/wearing. lmao. I feel like a massage will just stress me out more than it will relax me.

Re: talk to me about prenatal massages
So I just went for one prenatal one a few days ago (35 weeks) because I was in terrible pain... my back and leg muscles are totally shot.
I also get anxiety from having to go for a massage, and I don't usually like ppl touching me either.
But I felt it was the only way to relive pain. It did work a bit and my back is about 50% better than it was a few days ago.
I'd say go... especially if it's essentially free!

talk to me about prenatal massages
I'm a huge fan of massages when not pregnant and as much as I'd like to go now I'm really not on board with it during pregnancy. I feel like it's too easy to hit the wrong spot and cause damage. It's not worth it to me. But, I'm a little neurotic!

Re: talk to me about prenatal massages
I went last week at 35 weeks and it was amazing! I fell asleep for half of it, haha. You can expect to be really relaxed afterwards lol. Just tell her your problem areas and if they include a scalp massage go for that too, because that felt like heaven. Some massage therapists will work on (or rather around) your stomach too during a prenatal massage but you can opt out of that. I did.

I went at 33 weeks and really enjoyed mine. You have to make sure to go to a reputable place that has trained therapists who know what they are doing. I had gone for one months ago at another place and left very underwhelmed. This recent one was great, she pinpointed my problem areas and focused on those, and asked me what I was comfortable with, etc. I say go for it.

Me too! My sil got one from a very reputable and well-established place, and she left in pain and just not feeling right. That turned me off from the idea completely.

Re: talk to me about prenatal massages
I went today, at 23 weeks, and loved it. I'm a big fan of massages normally, and this was similar in terms of relaxation. They had a special pillow set up to allow me to lay on my stomach, and when I flipped over, she raised the back of the table so that I was not sitting flat. I've been having some shoulder pain, and she really worked on getting that out. My massage was at Bliss 57.

Re: talk to me about prenatal massages
use it on yourself. you'll be thankful.
Make sure you get one that has a hole for your belly. Laying on my side being rubbed is not my idea of comfortable.
