Just for fun - Old Wives Tales & Gender Prediction

Anyone have anything that seems true? I know its inaccurate, but its entertaining to think about

We haven't found out yet, but we will soon. All I want to eat are oranges and salads. The very idea of meat makes me gag. OLD wives tell me its a girl, but we'll see!!

I was the complete opposite of all old wives tales.

No morning sickness at all
Carried very small and all in front like I swallowed a soccer ball
face didn't change

Everyone, including myself was convinced it was a boy.

When they told me girl after the amnio results came in I made them double check

ETA- i even did that stupid gender predictor test where you pee in the cup and it turns one color for boy and one for girl- well mine was very hard to read and could have went either way, but it leaned more towards boy

I was violently sick (and still sick, though not as violently), the only thing I could occasionally keep down were sweets and I just felt girl, which is what I'm having. I was completely unsurprised when they told me.

And Nervousnell, I kinda hate you because I'm sick AND fat!!!

Oh let's see....

I've had awful acne. Since girls steal your beauty = GIRL

Heart rate was always on the higher end = GIRL

Craved sweets like crazy (nothing salty or sour) = GIRL

Morning sickness hit me = GIRL

I was very hormonal and moody = GIRL

Hands were soft (not dry like they say for a boy) = GIRL

Was more comfortable sleeping on my right side and wasn't clumsy at all = GIRL

Chinese birth charts that use your age at conception and the month you conceived to determine the sex of your baby = GIRL

Implantation side on the left = GIRL


Basically every single thing I could look at to determine the sex of the baby told me a baby girl was on the way. Not to mention intuition. I was all set with name & everything


Then I had my anatomy scan. Wasn't my Gender Reveal quite a shocker when it ended up a BOY!! LMAO. Who would have though Old Wives Tales to be unreliable? 8 weeks away & still no name for this little guy.

We are having a girl and I would have bet anything we were having a boy.

Zero morning sickness (some nausea but that would pass with eating something)
lower baby heart rate
carrying in the front so far
but the Chinese calendar did predict a girl

I always like checking these out...

Chinese Calendar says boy, but everything else- lots of morning sickness, craving sweets, heart rate, implantation side (Ramzi) says girl. Hopefully I'll find out in three weeks!

ETA: I also just think it's a girl. Not that I have a preference either way- in fact I go back and forth on what I think I'd prefer- but I refer the the baby a lot as she. I even told her, because yes, I talk to my bump sometimes, that I think she's a girl.

ETAA: I'd also like to say I'm pretty graceful so far... and not moody. Even my DH said I've been very even tempered. Except when he threatened to not go to the good bagel store and I told him I'd cut his eyes out. But seriously, get me the good bagels.

Looking at those charts were so much fun to me. I looked at soo many on Pinterest - this is how it went for me...

Morning Sickness= Girl
Heartbeat above 140= Girl
Graceful= Girl
Craving Sweets= Girl
Mood was pleasant= Girl
Could NOT eat meat= Girl
Carrying low= Boy
Chinese Calendar=Boy

After reading all this I convinced myself and everyone around me I was having a girl. I had her name picked out and everything ....then I went to my doctor and I'm having a boy !!!

I am carrying super small with just over 4 weeks to go. I've lost 4lbs since before I was pregnant (and I wasn't big to begin with) and my face hasn't changed at all (aside from looking like I went on a diet from the waist up and the thighs down). Heartbeat was 138 consistently. Had no issue eating meat. Had some morning sickness in the beginning, which was the same with my first (a boy).

This is a girl! So far, I haven't been on point with any old wives tales this time around

I've had all the same symptoms with this pregnancy as my first, including morning sick ess, and so far I'm carrying the same, mostly all in front. 1st was a girl and this baby is a boy.

For my boys- Mexican food, fat face and just look terrible lol, steak, ice cold water, no chocolate or sugar stuff, lower heart beat (130-140s)

For my girls- chocolate and sweets, Gatorade, higher heart beat (150-160), and I looked way better lol

For my first, every wives tale said boy, and it was a girl!

This time around, I feel/look the same except carrying lower. We will see in December!

None of the wives tales were true for me. I had horrible morning sickness with all 3. Their HBs were all over the place. 1 in the high 150s and 2 in the low 140s etc.

I will say though the Chinese predictor charts were right for all 3.

I only paid attention for my first since I was doing a gender reveal.

Signs baby was a girl (5)
-Heartrate is over 140bpm
-Age of mother & month of conception according to Chinese gender chart
-Morning Sickness
-Mother prefers to sleep on her right side
-Feet are not cold

Linea Nigra ends at belly button


Signs baby was a boy (4)
-Headaches
-Mother’s age is an even # and Year of conception is an odd # according to Mayan Gender predictor
-No acne or breakouts
-Ring on a string swung like a pendulum
