Leap year
I just realized 2016 will be a leap year and I'm due March 8th. Is it crazy to be worried I'll go Feb 29? What are your thoughts on a leap day baby?

Leap year
I personally would have liked a leap year baby. February 29th was my grandmother's birthday and I always thought it was great because it was so unique. But this came up when my DS was born (last leap year, 2012) and it seems I'm definitely in the minority lol.

The leap year babies I know love it! It makes them unique so I don't think it would be a bad thing.

Re: Leap year
What I realized when I was pg is that you have absolutely no control over when your baby comes. And trust me, if you go into labor on 2/29 I'm sure you will be so excited to 1. get that baby out! and 2. meet your little miracle. You would embrace that as your baby's birthday. Don't add more stress to an already stressful time by worrying about a birth date.

This 100%. While it might not be ideal, you really have no control and in the end, you're just going to be so happy to have your little miracle that the baby's birth date wont matter. You'll find a way to make it special each year even if it's a leap year date.

I agree with pp. You have no control over when that baby comes. None. And when you hold that baby you won't care what day it is!
And, I actually think a leap year birthday is kind of cool.

Im due March 8 too and I so don't want a leap day baby. My older dd is march 12 so I also don't want this one to be born on or too close to that day so I can be home for DD's bday. That doesn't leave too big a window I was hoping my dr would say that since I have GD I would be induced before due date like I was for DD so that I could have a little control over the timing but she said if everything is fine, they will let me go 1 week past. I'm just trying to let it go and what will be, will be!

Re: Leap year
I'm due March 9 and had the same thought (that the baby could come that day), but I had a great uncle with a Leap Day birthday and remember going to a "Sweet 16" for him. I think it's kind of something you make the best of, if it does happen.

DH's cousin's son is a leap day baby. They just celebrate either the 28th or 1st. It's not a big deal. 2016 will be his first birthday on his actual DOB. I think it's kinda cool.

Leap year
My Grandfather was a leap day baby. My mom ALWAYS told us his birthday was March 1st. We didn't know until AFTER he passed that his birthday was actually February 29th. My step-Grandmother had to take his birth certificate out and prove it to my mom.

I totally agree with this. I have a very close family friend who was born on leap year and so was her niece. I think its cool and very unique. It also allows for a celebration weekend instead of just a day because you can celebrate on Feb 28th or Mar 1st.
Then when it is a leap year you can do something extra special.

Re: Leap year
I'm due feb 20th so there's a possibility I could go late and have a leap year baby. I think the birth of a child far exceeds the date of the birth so I didn't even think twice about it. My DS bday is dec 30th and we just celebrated this weekend, so we don't focus so much on the actual date.

Re: Leap year
My main concern would be delivering a healthy baby, the date would not matter to me. If I had a baby born on leap day, I'd probably acknowledge it on March 1.
