Public Cord blood Banking
Hello,
I'm 33 weeks and was reading some old posts about this being a much more affordable option as long as the hospital participates. Is Winthrop one of them? How do we find out?
What made you decide weather or not to do the cord blood?
FMe if you wish. I appreciate all the guidance I can get.

I thought I read that the public cord blood banking is only if you want to donate it? not for personal keeping.

If you donate to the public cord blood bank the sample can be used by anyone that is a match- this includes your child if the sample has not been used--it is free and since the odds of a child needing their own cord blood is extremely low (<0.04%) it is a way to can save it for the use of ANYONE that is a match. I donated my daughter's cord blood to the public bank after a ton of research.
