If your OB takes your insurance but the hospital does not
I'm switching OB's in preparation for (hopefully) the next pregnancy. The practice I'm interested in does take my insurance, but the hospital they are affiliated with looks like it does not. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and while it's listed on the hospitals website, on my insurances website they are not coming up as an in-network hospital.
Does anyone know how this works? I know there's a good chance that my OB wont even be on call when I deliver, so it could be any of the other doctor's that cover for them...all of which take my insurance.

If the hospital doesn't take your insurance you will pay out of pocket unless you have Out of network coverage.
I would call your insurance company to confirm.

Yes this... and I would make sure the hospital is covered only because I saw the bill both times after I gave birth and I was like I was grateful the insurance company covered a good portion of it.

Same! I almost fell over when I read the top of my bill!
I delivered at Englewood both times hospital and they take Empire BCBS if you need another hospital option.
