surgery for blocked tear duct
Has anyone's child had this? One of the twins has a blocked tear duct. The doctor was waiting to see if it would fix itself, but she is 10 months and it is still pretty bad. I have researched it and it seems like pretty minor surgery- but as I am sure you all know, nothing is minor when it comes to your child! Anyone have any personal experience to share? TIA!

Dd2 has this. She's almost 7 months and it hasn't cleared on its own. Our pedi said it should clear up by 1. Were monitoring it. Heres a good article tho.

DD1 had it. At 12 months she had the surgery. We saw Dr. Kodsi who was amazing! By the time we sat down in the waiting room, she came out and brought us back to DD b/c the surgery was done! Worst part was seeing her fall asleep with the sedation and right when she woke up. Within minutes she drank her bottle and was totally back to her normal self.

My almost 3 year old ds had it. I really didn't want the surgery. The ophthalmogist said if it didn't clear by a year we would need to go for it. It literally cleared the week of his first birthday. My 6 month old ds has it also. We'll wait until he's one before considering the surgery. Good luck.

Both of my kids had it, and they both cleared on their own. Are you doing anything for it? Warm compresses or massage?
