STEW LEONARDS!
I personally did not see a lot of organic produce but it was very crowded - maybe I missed it.

STEW LEONARDS!
I went - it's crazy but no lines at checkout. The donuts are awesome - and I am an apple cider donut snob lol. There were some really good items - snowball rolls - but overall it would not be where I food shop every week. Very small and expensive organic produce area, did buy the organic milk which the kids like, the meats do look very good and fresh. We bought chicken and looks good! But if you need anything else or specialty items you will be very limited. The prepared food looks good but was too busy to really get to. We got a free ice cream with the purchase and I have to say it was really really good!! Very creamy. I'll go once in awhile for fun but that's it - it was very over stimulating between the crowds and all the interactive displays they have!

STEW LEONARDS!
It's not a supermarket. It's a specialty market. You won't be able to go for all the mass packaged items. You will go for meat and produce and things like cheeses. Deli dept is cheaper than say stop n shop. But if you want cereal and cookies you need to go to a big chain.

Re: STEW LEONARDS!
I live in CT, about 15-20 minutes away from one of the stores and we go there most weeks. We can't get everything we need, but we love a lot of the things they have. We prefer their produce over the Stop & Shops in our town. The baked goods, deli, rice cakes (especially the chocolate dipped ones), cheese, soups and prepared food are also really good. When we host holidays, we always buy the meat from there. Their soft serve ice cream is also delicious. I don't know if there are any differences in the stores, but it's also nice that if you spend $100 at our local store, you get a free ice cream or coffee.
ETA: I also love all of the interactive things around the store to keep my kids entertained while food shopping.

Re: STEW LEONARDS!
I was there on opening day here was my take on Stews..
Ok here's my observation. We were in and out in an hour. It's an experience... It was very busy but manageable for opening day... What I can tell you it's a specialty supermarket so you are going to go for special things not for your entire food shopping.... Still managed to spend $100?? with going to shoprite yesterday. Sort of like Fairway. Parking not bad at all. Can't wait to try fish counter on another day it looked great. Prices same as Shoprite on things, higher on others...
We went back this Friday night wth my mother who had not been. At 7:30 it was busy for a store closing at 9. Not much left on shelves by that point. Thought the fish dept was a little smelly... But bought what we had tried which were all great- muffin tops, chocolate chip cookies, chicken chili which was fantastic, the Chocolate dipped rice cakes. There own sweet potato chips which are made there.. My kids loved their chocolate milk the best they had ever tried according to them. Love that they cut the fresh fruit right in front of you. Still waiting to try their rotisserie chicken.
They do not have a big organic section or much gluten free.. I know my friends complained about that.. I think that will change once they see that is really big here on Long Island.
Will be back on occasion, still a Shoprite Shopper.
I do think it will do well since only one on Long Island at the moment...

Re: STEW LEONARDS!
I did get the crab legs for $18.99 a pound. They were fantastic that 2 days later I went back and got more.
From what I heard they had 25,000 people on the grand opening day.
